Stuttering Engine
Today my car began to stutter around 1.5-3000rpm with mid-to-full throttle.
Nothing that I know of has happened to cause this. Anyone have any ideas? |
sounds like moisture is getting in somewhere. my first guess would be check:
distributor cap and rotor, then sparkplugs, sparkplug wires. |
i should mention that when the car is cold the problem doesn't occur, but as the car warms up (5 min+) it gets worse.
I've had distributor problems before with another car, and it did just rain yesterday... |

get a new dizzy

it was warm this morning and i pulled off the spark plug wires, there was water in the basin, dryed it out best i could and left them out while i worked, they dryed out nicely and the problem went away. I don't know how the water got it, maybe its been there since i washed my engine in march, whatever the case the problems gone, thanks boys

That's why when ever you wash your engine, you leave it running, and you cover up any thing that is electrical so you don't get problems after wards.
|
i did cover the electrical parts, didn't leave the car running though...i pulled off one of the plastic bags and spilled the water on it right onto the valve cover, dryed it at the time but must have gotten into the basin
|
It's a listen learned the hard way, just look at it that way, and be happy that it did not damage anything.

preciate the help, another problem i seem to have is when i'm low on fuel (almost empty) my car doesn't start as easily, the starter has to go for longer. Could that be a fuel pump or filter issue?
