Stupid Ticking Noise out of my block

I got this stupid ticking noise coming out of my block, its a light ticking...what do you guys think it is, some guy told me it was my piston - some mechanic said it was nothing, someone said it was my ground, so i regrounded my valve cover, and my intake manifold....i dunno what else to do, the ticking is at idle and when u drive, its like a permanent thing

Sounds like valvetrain noise and its normal.

Try a valve adjustment. Have they ever been adjusted b4? How many km's on the car if they haven't been adjusted? Its pretty cheap. I've seen anywhere from $50-$75. Call me if you need someone.

DaveYO is your friend. I'm going through this as we speak. Mine had a couple of sticky valves. PM him!

What model of teg do you have? I've now got a freshly cleaned up, hot dopped and 3 angle valve job done on mine 200 km's ago before I threw a piston rod. I'm getting a new motor now.

I have a '94 RS. I believe it's the same as the '94 - '97 RS, LS and GS.

i got a '00 integra se - B18B1 - so i dunno

I have the same thing happening to me. I think its a normal ticking coming from the intake manifold.

sikkkkktegra Jun 8, 2006 02:32 PM

no its coming from the lifters. in your cylinder head. may need adjusting.

WildoutWhiteGSR Jun 8, 2006 03:01 PM

Honestly we'd have to hear it in person to tell you what it is

Dave YO Jun 8, 2006 05:47 PM

^+1 bring it to a meet

Gold_Integ Jun 14, 2006 04:22 PM

...how do u know its coming out of your block?! If it is, then that's your pistons! But if it was your pistons, i don't know how long you'd be able to drive it for...you motor shoulda seized by now. If its coming outta your head you might need a valve adjustment...is it a ticking or is it like a knocking??

Either way, get it checked out soon! :)

Planning on hitting up the meet next wednesday, so hopefully we'll figure something out, thx

i have the same ticking... 99 se... mine only stays around when I first start the car and its cold... it then seems to go away after bout 5 mins of driving... read lots of places that its normal and others say do a valve adjustment... i've also read that some people say its the fuel injectors so I put in fuel injector cleaner and it still makes same noise... although I know that its not best way to clean the fuel injectors anyways..

im at 173000 kms though and never got a valve adjustment and overdue for a tune up... so im gonna see if after I do that if it fixes it...

Buff4Prez Yo Jun 15, 2006 02:23 PM

Mike, if it goes away once the car is warmed up it's fine. i not then you would need a valve adjustment. it only tick like that after start up because the oil is all in the pan and not circulating through the motor

mkralj Jun 15, 2006 07:09 PM

oh ok thanks Mark... i've heard the same ticking from my brothers civic and hes at like 280000 and its been like that for a while so i wasnt too worried... thanks for confirming that its all good...

tdot2gteg Jun 17, 2006 04:22 PM

-------lifter tick-------- try using a different weight oil if it bugs you that much. some oone skimped on oil changes :naughty:
