Stiff Shifter

My 90' Integra shifter is really stiff. Im thinking maybe its the linkage or maybe its a bigger problem. The guy I bought the car from just had the transmission rebuilt and he only drove it for about 20 000 after the rebuild (I saw the bill for proof.) Any suggestions of what to do?

Does it have a short shifter and some energy suspension bushings? Because after you install those it does get stiff. Is it hard to move side to side or up and down?
You can slightly loosen the bolt at the bottom of the shifter. Just a bit through, like 1/4 turn or so. Then see how it feels.

is it low on fluid, mine was leaking and i just added some dot 4 brake fluid i think and it was perfect after, not a problem since

ya its stiff up and down and side to side, and the fluid is fine. Ill try lossening the bolt to see if that helps

if its cable does it still need fluid for the shifter?!?!?

Maybe Danny was refering to clutch fluid?

OP is the shifter cut? I remember when I picked up my DA, it had an OEM shifter that was cut...very low. And it was a b*itch to shift. After I got myself a b&m short throw shifter and some new bushings it felt stiff but normal stiff, not like working out my arm every time I shift.

i know that short shiffters do get much stiffer then oem...i also got a B&M short shiffter and cant complain :)
