Starting Problem

I have a 92 gsr with the factory b17 that is completely stock internally but have simple bolt-ons (i/h/e). Just over a month ago, it took me a full 2 seconds to start the car. Each day after that, cold starting takes long... if I let the cranking off early, the car just doesn't start. I really can't figure out why it's been doing this... Starting after the engine has been running is fine - starts as a honda engine should.

I have replaced the fuel filter, plugs, and plug wires. Compression was checked 4 nights ago and surprisingly came to 210, 210, 210, 210. Timing was chy ecked and is within spec. I've been using Motul 8100 oil, premium fuel, oem filters... etc. I also get 480-500kms/tank and the car idles solidly just under 600 rpm. Basically what I'm trying to say is, the car runs fine but cold starting or starting after leaving the car to cool down for a few hours takes longer than it should.

Any ideas as to why this is happening? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
~Eddie

Does it crank?

Or does it just click with no cranking?

It cranks and cranks strong... so I know the battery is still good. Resting voltage is 12.68v. The starter and distributor were changed last August too.

When you turn the key to the first position can you hear the fuel pump priming? Should sound like a low pssshhhh/hum sound.

Well, I hear it in second position (ignition). I forgot to mention that I had the main relay replaced at the same time as the fuel filter.

Yup the only things left are fuel pump and injectors. I'd go with fuel pump.

All of your ignition componets have been replaced.

Fuel pump, eh? Never would've guessed... I mean, I tried priming the cylinders before I crank (let the main relay go as key is turned to ignition) and I've even tried backing off and turning back to ignition a second time before starting... but with no luck.

So how is it that I'm not running lean with a faulty fuel pump?

And what fuel pumps should I look for and how much do they go for?

i have a fuel pump for a 95 integra i can give u for like 50 bucks..see if its the same part and u can install it yourself. its real ez.. it works mint

but listen. check to see if yours ignitor coil assembly first...whole distributor assembly....if not then change your MAIN relay first. its 80 dollars from acura.

I changed out the entire distributor last year with all new internals. The main relay was changed out earlier this summer as well. As for the fuel pump, it's actually quite a pain to change on my car 'cause I have to drop my tank... and I'm worried my bolts are seized. I'm gonna wait for my fuel pressure guage to come in before I tamper with the fuel system. But if I do need one, I'll definitely pm you. Thanks!
