Starting Issue
 

Okay heres my problem. I have a 94 integra i'm tryin to sell. its been off the road for about a month and it had no problems starting..... until today.

I get in, try to start it and it turns over just fine... but thats it. the engine won't actually fire up. I had this problem before when i got it back from the shop, but thay tinkered with it and the problem went away for almost a year.
The fuel pump seems to kick in, fuel filter sems alright. Plugs look good, its got a new distributor and the wires look fine..... i'm stumped, any help would be greatly appreciated

Is there fuel in the car, plus if you let the car sit for that time, you should turn the key on and off a few times to let fuel get back to the engine, because as the car sits the fuel pressure drops to 0, so try turning the key on and leave it there for like 4-5 second, and then turn it off, and repeat that a few time, and then try to start it. How does the starter sound when cranking?

yep its got a half tank of gas. i'll try the fuel pressure thing. but i doubt its that. i had the car running like a half hour before, shut it off, went outside to move it and... no joy. oh yeah... the starter turns like a champ, no problems there

hmm ok. i just did your fuel pressure trick and still no change. um i do have another question, when are you supposed to hear the pump kick in exactly? my buddy said that wasn't it, but i'm not sure, i'm not really hearing anything from the back seat where the pump is located

Have you check spark, and do you hear the fuel pump going? You can check for spark by pulling one of the plug wires of and place a screw driver in the plug wire and just place the metal shaft of the screw driving to any metal that would work as a ground, and crank the car, this works good to see if you have spark, but it helps if you have a second person to help for it.

It should stay on for like 4-5 seconds when you first turn the key to the on position

try starting it and at the same time push gas while your trying to start it

Check your fuse under your hood first for your fuel pump, because the if the fuse is blown, you will have no pump or spark. The fuse block should be on the right side of the car, just infront of the fire wall.

okay fixed it. it seems fine now. for some reason the pump wasn't kicking in.

Was it the fuse?

naw fuse was fine. i think since it was sittin there for so long the fuel in the lines leaked and evaporated out of a bad connection near the tank. It just took some pumping of the pedal and turning the key a bunch of times.

Glad you got it to start. Plus you should not have had to pump the gas pedal to get it to start, but hey it's running again, so that's all that matters.
