Split Fire??? other good engine builders, tunners in GTA

so what do people have to say about them, i got some quotes for an ls/vtech build for 2000$ and complete turbo setup including labour and tunning for 4500$ im looking for a shop to do some work on my 98 integra anybody have any other suggestions

turboda4dr May 11, 2009 09:47 PM

wouldnt go to splitfire!!! def-con all the way!!!!!!!!!!!

vinceg143 May 11, 2009 10:15 PM

ya somebody else said defcon but is it reasonable prices i was just about to give up on my turbo dreams but not anymore can you beat that 4500$ costum turbo setup, install and dyno tunning, im going to call break the needle and defcon too and see what they say. tekno tik would be great but they were offering me 4000 at least for just the turbo kit. i need that balence between amazing work and reasonable prices

cant cheap out on turbo set up man!!! splitfire didnt do my set up but did the tuning n some other machanic stuff. both were garabage!!! defcon might be a bit pricier but its deft worth it. 4500 set up? all good parts?include dyno tuning, i highly doubt it but that just me. if u want to cheap out n regret later thats your choice. im just telling u from experience splitfire is a big NO NO, defcon:yeah:

Spike May 12, 2009 05:52 AM

Never cheap out when building a engine or doing a turbo set up. Just like most other people have said, you will regret it when your engine blows up from it not being built like it should be for boost. Go to defcon, i have had many friends get there swaps down from them, and they have never had a problem with it.

JDM_gsR May 12, 2009 07:59 AM

Gotta pay to play!

vinceg143 May 12, 2009 05:55 PM

ok so defcon want 7000$ to boost my car this includes turbo parts, install and dyno thats just way too much

zman May 12, 2009 06:13 PM

honestly, to do it properly, its gunna cost that much.

A solid turbo setup will cost $3000+ alone, plus install and tuning

vinceg143 May 12, 2009 09:10 PM

about split fire is it the parts that they use, install or tunning that suck. should i go to them for a deasent turbo kit at least

turboda4dr May 12, 2009 09:19 PM

it seems u have ur mind set on splitfire. than just go there, but dont cry when ---- start breaking or blowing up. G/L

vinceg143 May 12, 2009 09:21 PM

no man i just want to know what it is why are they disliked by u and a few other ppl they even built the fastest fwd car in the world really im just planning on buying a turbo kit installing myself and getting tekno tik to tune it

Totalpkg May 12, 2009 09:38 PM

I use to deal with Splitfire way back when I had no clue. I would not go back. But if your set on them, you've been warned...

cause its his car thats y n he had sponsors. for me it was bad tuning n bad machanic work, also dented my car while it was there. other ppl has told that he swap out ur good parts for ---- ones. if u want to buy a turbo kit n install yourself, why r u going there?!! u said u want turbo n install by shop. do u know what u want?????

vinceg143 May 13, 2009 08:17 AM

well im debating if i should take the time to do it myself or take it to a shop regardless i think ill let tekno tik tune it

FatTeg May 13, 2009 11:28 PM

me and all my friends get whatever we need done a defcon, you pay for what you get, they only deal with quality parts and they do a good job. They saved me money where they could but were straight with me when i needed to spend some cash. go defcon/a.r.t.

vinceg143 May 13, 2009 11:38 PM

ok i talked to defcon k so i say i am looking to turbo my 98 integra i asked for a ball park estimate when its all said and done they told me 7000, they said if u want cheeze then we really dont do that but heres my question is there anything in between. im not building a competition race car just want some boost for some dd fun. im going to talk to tekno tik but am leaning on buying a peakboost kit for 3000$ thats an example of an overall good setup for the money.

Torqueless_In_Toronto May 14, 2009 07:00 PM

Depends on your goals and over-all budget. Do you really want to sink that much cash into a 10+ yr old car?

For 7G's you can buy a 240sx with an S14 Silvia swapped into it, thats already fully tuned and nicely modded. This would be more reliable and and waaay more fun.

non-VTEC May 15, 2009 09:53 PM

i never dealt with split fire before but just for the fact that they quoted you 4500 for a complete engine build including turbo setup and dyno tune is just stupid......i never been there before and i will never go there.

you can try calling up tony at dynamotorsports...he is not cheap but you will get qualitly work/parts/tuning at his shop. http://www.dynamotorsports.ca/

ls/vtec May 16, 2009 01:20 PM

try altech they do great work at decent prices

vinceg143 May 16, 2009 05:14 PM

team alltech?

JerryB May 17, 2009 09:04 AM

FUC KKKKKK SPLITFIRE they suck balls

vinceg143 May 17, 2009 09:15 AM

ok so i go into splitfire myself and they deff sound scetchy, the guy doesnt even tell me what exactly is going in my car, he only says its a percision turbo, why thankyou that helps a lot. i dont get how hes been in buisness for 20 years, builds the fastest fwd car in canada and he said he garenties his work such as cracks. btw I am not going to splitfire

Totalpkg May 17, 2009 07:32 PM

Good choice...there is a guy out in Oakville. I lost his number, but apparently he is the best for building turbos. Also cost an arm and a leg.

vinceg143 May 18, 2009 12:25 AM

im not really into give up my left nut to boost my teg but its doesnt have to be too expensive if you can peice together some used quality parts im learning that fast

Totalpkg May 18, 2009 02:26 AM

Yeah boost can start to cost alot - built motor, clutch and flywheel to handle the power, fuel and spark, cooling, etc...then turbo, intercooler, etc...once u go boost the $$$ starts to add up.

jasonjai May 18, 2009 03:08 AM

well, you can fabricate a turbo set-up using 91 eagle talon tsi parts, if you want to save money. just more work but it can be done, cost less than a peak boost kit.

zman May 20, 2009 04:07 PM

ultimately you get what you pay for.

A talon turbo (14b or t25) sucks on a honda (even a SOHC) so I personally wouldn't use that.

vinceg143 May 20, 2009 10:42 PM

ya lol im not putting a talon turbo on my teg

KjB May 27, 2009 10:21 PM

you made a good choice with splitfire ive heard hes a pretty good scammer when it comes to parts and leaving ur vehicle there so thumbs up on that decision but i do believe u get what u pay for so if waiting some time and saving up more money will ensure u a proper build then i say wait

hmmm interesting, I have never heard that before.

Just as a reference point, I have personally seen full weight 1G AWD's (3300lbs) running mid to high 12's on a 14b.

gt1 Jun 1, 2009 10:07 PM

dont go to split fire they are scammers had buddies get work done to their cars and parts were missing and weeks later car goes missing if i see any of those douches they will get knocked out

you can't compare a DSM engine to a honda engine.
With the 14b on even a SOHC the boost/power will start to fall off early, like roughly 6000rpms. This is because the turbo is falling out of its efficiency range on these engines at that rpm.
I personally would go with a t3/t4 50 or 57 trim with a .50 or .60 a/r for a LSvtec. Or something like a gt30 or gt35r.

I've made 315whp 225wtq @ 11psi with a t3/t4 57 trim .50 a/r on a bone stock LSvtec. Literally all this engine had was ARP head studs and a 2.5" exhaust

RallyGSR Jun 5, 2009 04:53 PM

Try DL Motorsports in Burlington for Honda building/Tuning.

Also Mississauga for engine building only. He knows his stuff and builds many high performance race engines however........ he is never done on time...:naughty: so expect several calls to get motor done.... again work is good.;)

gt1 Jun 5, 2009 06:10 PM

dl

mike at dl motors in burlington is a scammer to my buddie is going through a law suit with him because he is trying to screw my buddy on paying bigtime for work he did and he fucked up his car and was late and was lieing about how long it took him and what he actually did...i would not recomend him

zman Jun 6, 2009 02:53 PM

i've had problems with mike at DL as well

b18cef9 Jun 6, 2009 03:36 PM

go to splitfire if u wanna get your car stolen 2weeks after your modifications are done

the best jap cars to work on are from 1990 to 2001 especially honda specific cars so most will be 10 years old or older so really how old the car is would be irrelevant
