Spherical Bushings

Just want your feedback if you have ever used these things. How are they? Sloppy? Too stiff?

Rxperiment 02-26-2009 09:09 PM

what type of driving?

D C 2 02-26-2009 09:10 PM

weekend track and daily

I'm mostly interested in the spherical trailing arm bushings though. I'm leaning towards both front and rear lower control arms but I saw different reviews on popular forums.

well put it in perspective, its metal on metal and with daily driving you are prone to pick up dirt and crap very easily in it. I have heard nothing but good things from them but for a DD its just going to be a PITA. you will wear them out fast. If you were just to use them on a track only can then it makes sense, most of the time you are gonna be on reasonably clean track. Just food for thought.

I was going to pick up a set but decided against it as i DD all year round

^ yeah ... that's what's stopping me. But I cannot go OEM because I will have a lot of negative camber. OEM's are a bit sloppy for track as well. Any other bushings in mind? I'm a bit shady about using Energy suspension poly bushings though. I just wanted to get some feedback on sphericals from people that have DD with them.

Just get stiffer rubber and be done with it.

im looking into the same stuff like this.
my trailing arm bushings are gone to and im going to be DD/track as well any recommendations?

Nawaaz 02-26-2009 10:39 PM

DD/Track is weaksauce!!

i had mfactory rear upper adjustable control arms on my car with the spherical bushings. about 1.5 years later they are junk. so much crap gets build up in the bushing and it wears them out and starts making insane clunking sounds over bumps. waste of money IMO especially on a DD car.

stick to stock rubber bushings. even polyurethane is not as reliable/durable. low quality urethane will crack and make all kinds of noise.

i have since gotten ingalls rear adjustable control arms with the rubber bushings.

Look into hard rubber bushings; Mugen is a bit on the expensive side, and quite rare...

You could also consider the PIC hard rubber bushing set:

And here's Hardrace, a brand that comes highly recommended by solosprint enthusiasts:
