Spark Plugs
1999 Integra GS
NGK G-Force platinum tip spark plugs ok? ...and it's 13 lb-ft torque right? |
I tighten it by hand until I can't anymore and then I put in about another 90 Degree turn with a socket wrench.
|
Hand tight is good enough. A bit of oil on the threads (or spark plug grease) makes it easier to get them out next time.
|
yeah, i was thinking grease or anti-sieze.

$4-something for a plug... i bought the NGK g-power platinum ones for $8-something for two... so about the same price, but without waiting.
edit: it actually came out more expensive than crappy tire! GOOD LORD! i paid under $20.00 for the same ones yesterday... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...bros/plugs.jpg |
i wouldn't waste your money on anything other than the cheap NGK v-power....copper core baby. I've used all of the NGK's and found the v-powers to be the best...and at $7 for a package of 2 you can't go wrong.
Just don't buy them from honda because they're like $8-9 a plug. I guess its because they come in a fancy individual wrapped box....lol...other than that they're the same plug as you get from crappy tire or part source. Oh and never remove sprak plugs from a hot engine...the last thing you want to do is strip the threads in the head. I would recommend a little anti-seize on the threads for easy removal. |

Did you remember to get the gap? When I pulled my old Iridiums out they were still at 0.044 for all of them. So that's good, but when I went to check the new GP Platinum one's directly out of the package, they were 0.035 . A quick adjustment with the spark plug gapping tool fixed that. |
^^ you're not supposed to gap platinum plugs
|
NGK spec said it was 0.044 already, i didn't bother to check it :\

Your not suppose to gap the OEM plugs (Laser Platinum PFR6G-13) because they already come pre-gap. I got the G-Power Platinum BKR6EGP. |
i change my plugs roughly every 10000 km.
