Shock/Strut remove on rear problem !
So I was putting new shocks on my integra tonight and got the fronts off no problem ( with a liitle heat ) then when I started the rears and heated them for 10 plus mins and the still wouldn't move. I have a impack gun with all the tools and nothing was making that bolt move so I pryed on it and broke the head of the bolt .. So now I don't know what to do .. I cut the otheside of the bolt and still can't get it off.
Any help would be great because now I need to find a new bolt and don't want the same problem with the otherside. Thanks a lot |
Re: Shock/Strut remove on rear problem !
New bolts are about $12 from the dealer. That's a normal problem with integras and civics. The only way to get them out is to cut both sides out and the just nut and bolt them back together insted of having it bolt to the nut that's welded in place.
I will be dealing with this today as I'm changing the trailing arm on a civic today. |
Re: Shock/Strut remove on rear problem !
Really need help now
So it seems that all my bolts are stuck .. I got the shock off one side of the rear but the bolt broke off andits stuck inside the bushing .. I'm really pissed because now I can get that bolt off. Does anyone know what I can do now ??? Can I drill it ?? It doesn't wanna come out Thanks |
Re: Shock/Strut remove on rear problem !
Time to bring out the good ol' torch. If the bolt is stuck inside the bushing you need to burn the bushing away. You'll need new bushings for sure after. Most usually go and get aftermarket LCA's. Something like Skunk 2 or Function 7 are really good aftermarket lcas, don't cheap out and get blox. Blox bushings will go in less than a year. Or you can simply buy energy suspension polyurathane bushings and have them pressed in to your stock lcas.
