shitty night engine light came on...

so on my way home from work just now my engine light came on and i thought i heard something so i was kinda freaked out hoping car wont die on me in the middle of the street so my main goal was to get it home...
so got home pulled the ecu codes

9 blinks. No1. Cylinder Position
8 blinks. TDC Position

So now.. does this mean my timing jumped?

and im working on a deal with this guy for a b20b motor and just found out it may have a spun bearing any idea how much parts would be to replace that?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Check your crankshaft position sensor first and foremost.

The rest i'll have to get back to you on in the morning; i just got back from base and i'm exhausted...

Ever figure out your problem?

thusee 01-11-2009 07:01 PM

no
it fixed itself :S
lol
light went out
timing is perfect all marks line up
all connections are proper
i just need the car to last like another week dropping a b20b in soon

BestodaBest 01-11-2009 07:52 PM

Lmao; a classic case of 'honda gremlins'

thusee 01-11-2009 08:58 PM

haha
well i cant really fix something thats not broken
so i gota wait for it to happen again.

KnightX_AE86 01-12-2009 08:42 AM

i had that prob about 2-3 weeks ago.. i ended up changin the whole dizzy
Top Dead Center Sensor is inside the dizzy

thusee 01-12-2009 05:31 PM

ya today my light came on again and at times AFTER the car is at operating temps. the car would miss at certain times. and since i already did the tune up this past summer minus the fuel filter im pretty certain its my dizzy as well

thusee 01-13-2009 09:18 PM

alrite so again today it started acting up started sputtering hard so i went to my shop and pulled off the dizzy i had on my b16 head. swapped it with my ls dizzy and seems to be driving fine now.

KnightX_AE86 01-14-2009 01:30 PM

dun 4get to reset the engine light if its still on....

after i changed the dizzy i had to drive it for like 10-15min untill it was running 100%

thusee 01-14-2009 02:05 PM

engine light was never on constant it was intermittant

if that b20 has a spun bearing i wouldn't pay more than $100 for it. the cost to rebuild can equal the cost of buying one from an importer.

if anything take the block and toss on your b16 head.

thusee 01-16-2009 07:39 AM

^ ya thats what im planning on doing just grabbing the block and rebuilding it with gsr waterpump, oil pump, timing belt, and whatever else i can think of, and get the head machined and new seals and lighter springs and what not.

the motor that im pulling out of the civic is a b16a2 with a blown block.
the guy said hes just using the car for winter as a beater so i told him ill give him my ls for $200 and

i found a b20b for $400 so basically im just going to drop down $200 for the b20b, and going to put it in within the next 2 weeks.

so thats my plan for now
