shifting revs

hello all,

sometimes when i rip my integra to about 6k and shift, my rpms don't drop like they should, instead they just lag on. my car accelerates but it sounds weird as the rpms don't drop. say if i boot in 2nd and shift at 6k, and put it in 3rd, the rpms just stay at 5.5k for a while as the car keeps accelerating. my friend told me my clutch was slipping, so i changed up my clutch fluid but it still does this at occasions. if i am driving the car normally, it the rpms and shifts are just fine. any ideas on what might be happening? thanks.

If the clutch is slipping, changing the fluid will do nothing, you need to change the clutch it self.

Yup, sounds like a slipping clutch. You'll need some work done on that, and it can get quite pricey in a hurry.

Good way to test is to say be doing like 40 or 50km/h and put it in 4th or 5th, and stomp on the gas. If your rpms go up more than they should, not proportionate to the speed, meaning they don't sloooooowly go up as the engine bogs up to speed, your clutch is slipping for sure. Also, get a mechanic to check it out for you if you're unsure.

Or listen to spike, he is one

do what he said. drop it in high gear at low rpm. when rpms are at around 1000, floor it on gas and watch your rpms go up and your car not accelerate.
