Is a secondary 02 sensor necessary?

A while I was sick of having all the problems with my car, so I had a diagnostic done on it, and the 02 sensor code came up. I spent over $300 having that bought and installed (since I tried myself but failed). After Crappy Tire installed it, they guy told me I have no secondary 02 sensor. Is it necessary to have? I don't know why mine would be missing. I haven't had anything done in the last year that would cause that to have been removed.

it would help to know what car you drive and the year... obd1 or obd2, etc, etc

My bad :P

'95 GS-R. 283k on the engine, if that matters.

i'm not a pro on this, but i can speak from what I see under my car

i got a 94. yours being a 95 is also OBD1, and it only has a single O2 sensor (infront of the cat). OBD2 vehicles have 2 O2 sensors (infront and after the cat), so u shouldn't have a secondary sensor.....

If i'm wrong, anyone else, please feel free to chime in.

lol. You guys are funny. I guess I never thought about it that way... it did cost me $100 to get installed there because I couldn't the old one off myself, unfortunately.

So, the official word is that I am only supposed to have 1, right? Just getting a sure answer...

you would have just one, pre catalytic converter. Ive got a 1995 Integra thats from California and even it has just a single 4 wire O2 sensor.
