Rust hole in trunk
I have a hole of rust in my trunk under the spare tire, just wondering the best way to fix this?
|
cut out and get new metal in there. Since its only the trunk it doesnt have to be perfect or even painted so that is what i would do, get a welder and im sure they can help you out.
|
Yea that sounds like the best idea. What about bondo, fibreglass etc? Or would that not last? It looks like the guy that sold me the car tried to duct tape it haha
|
hmmm i wouldnt bonded it depends on the size of the hole. (someone correct me if im wrong) But your best bet would be a quick weld. I don't think it should cost alot since it doesnt have to be perfect as long as all the rust is cut out and there are no holes after the weld.

Best thing would be welding.
Otherwise you can sand don't the rust, get some rust inhibitor such as rust check or better yet por15 then fibre glass it. This would work but not for ever. Good luck. |
if you were closer to burlington i could weld it.

I live in burlington actually

heres some shots of what it looks like. It looks like it was a drainage thing or something. I went to the dealership and i would have to buy a whole new bottom panel if i wanted to replace it...

That's not too bad. I could cut out a round piece and weld it in for you.
|
well i sent you pm. lemme know if you wanna fix it.
|
Usually in older integras water builds up there.. so the guy who had it before you instead of finding the leak probably just cut that hole to drain the water so it didn't sit there. If you fix the hole, you might notice water sitting down there from now on after it's welded. So your job after that might be to find the leak heh.
