rubber like noise...

i need help, i have 94 integra ls 5 speed, the car runs fine,
except when i start driving it starts making noise, like rubber rubbing/ ticking noise...
it comes from the driver side, so i'm guessing if it maybe my axle that's doing that...i'm not sure, what do you think it maybe...
when i stop the noise also stops.....

Stones in the tire tread?

mkmk 08-13-2008 10:29 AM

so i been browsing through the internet and i cam across this DIY...http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=382416 .....

it's to replace an Axel, he describes two different situations where you might need a new axle, and #2 reason seems to be what i am experiencing..
so now i'm wondering how much an axles cost ?....
i might just go out and get a used one....

could also be a bearing...make sure you get it properly diagnosed before you start switching parts around...

My car sounded like there was rubber rubbing and when i looked under the fender, saw that the plastic over my tire was loose so i figured it was that rubbing at high speeds. I got that fixed but the sound was still there and found out it was the bearing....

you can trade in your axle and buy a rebuilt one for around 100~

i would take it to a mechanic before you start replacing the wrong parts!
