This started about a week ago, anytime I'm accelerating, no matter what gear, the RPM needle moves up smoothely until I hit about 2000RPM, then it starts to jump around. For example, in 4th gear going about 60km/h, the needle jumps back and forth between 2000RPM and 4000RPM... Any ideas why this is happening and how I can fix it?

Is the engine stumbling too or is it just the needle?

 

Do you have the msd ignition installed?

Edit - Check your tps signal wire I think it's blue

 

there IS the odd time the engine seems to hesitate or misfire, but when the needle is jumpin the car runs perfectly...ill just be cruising or whatever and the needle bounces

how many degrees is it retarted?????? u need a new tahcometer knock sensor

 

dats messed up, on my teg the rpm readings are all wrong i have to calculate the proper reading! about 1000k or so off on the revvs
