RPM goes UP and Down
Finally i got my integra back heres what I've done so far.
- b20b engine installed - used my intake manifold,computer,tranny(b18) - fidanza flywheel - stage 1 exedy clutch kit Ok when I first drove it yesterday there was coolant leaking, it was leaking just below engine to the left looking from the top. Also the rpm stayed at 2 for some reason. Later that day when I drove the RPM went from 1 to 3 and back and forth. Not sure what is going on. |

Bouncing RPM's usually means a vacuum leak. :yeah:
DAN Can also mean you're low on rad fluid. |

Pop the hood and listen for a hissing sound. DAN |
Adjust your idle on you throttle body.
|
When rpms go up on down on idle it's most likely the fast idle valve that's in your throttle body. Get it chaged or if you have a good mechanic see if he can clean it up for you.
Had this done on my friends Prelude. Didn't end up changing the part, just cleaned the original one. |
+1 on the fast idle valve they like to turn themselves out
easy fix |

easy fix and when its really bad, people look at you funny when you are in traffic... damn street racer.. |
its the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV), ive fixed them on a couple honda's before..same symptons, you just pop open the small cap and screw the valve back in its place. Over time it just comes out, and makes your idling do funny things. Location is behind the intake manifold, by the firewall, on the intake manifold itself. You cant really see it, u just have to know its there, and know what u are doin back there.

Hunting idle is caused by several things (as you can see from the posts above)...just check what everyone has recommended and your problem will most likely disappear.

sounds all too familiar......
|
Also unplug your spark plugs to see if there is oil.

here is a good article for cleaning the FITV if you are interested. If I am doing something wrong by referring to another forum I apologize, I' just trying to save people money :D.
http://www.team-integra.net/sections...ArticleID=1167 I'm not familiar with B20b engines but here is another part that can cause high and lumpy idles: http://www.team-integra.net/sections...ArticleID=1174 check your hoses too, if they look warn or have stretch marks it is good to replace them. Chris. PS. Hi everyone, I am new to these forums, I hope I can help out a bit.:willy: |
^^^ Naw man good work
:yeah: |
op wat was the problem
|
Ive heard it could be in the throttle body... mine is doing the same time idling from 1-2k but been to lazy/dont feel like buying a new throttle body yet
