Default reground cams?

SO im looking into purchasing some LS re-grinded(sp) cams
they were done by colt cams,
the specs for the reground cams are Lift 423In/410Ex....Duration
264In/264Ex

Now, right now i have DC 4-1 header, 2.25 cat, and 2.25 cat back exhaust and then a short ram intake. I am looking to boost the power a bit more, adn these cams are a good price.

I dont really understand much about lift and duration, so if someone could help me out and tell me if these cams will benifit me.

I also can get an ECU with a PYR and Eriks Racing program in it. Worth it?

I am not really looking to do much more then this to the motor. Maybe IM but thats about it.

And with these cams could i bump up the redline or no?

you want to be careful when it comes to re-grinds. what they do is basically take a stock cam, and at the points that the cam sits in the head, they grind those down, thus making the cam sit lower holding the valves open longer. re-grinds also have the tendency to break aswell.

Alex spend your money on tuning.

Cause once you grab cams, you need the following
-fuel pressure regulator
-fuel pressure gauge
-new injectors(maybe)
-stiffer valve springs
-retainers(maybe)
-OBD1 Ecu and someone to tune it

That's roughly $1500 right thurr

If you just get tuned now, you'll get better gas mileage, more power and have a smoother (for lack of a better word) engine

Unless your dead set on buying cams and a new IM, I'd get your current setup tuned first. Otherwise just wait until you grab all those mods.

Oh yeah, say no to reground cams.

Duration is how long the valve is held opened to let either air in or the exhaust out. Ie .5 second or .2 seconds.

Lift is how much the valve opens. Ie .1mm or 5mm

Those aren't actual figures, but it's been simplified so that it's easy to understand.
