rebuild cost?

Hi, I got a 96 Integra GS-R and it has around 227,000kms. I'm planning to rebuild this engine later on, but I was wondering how long do these motors last? I definitely want to rebuild the motor before it goes but I'm still reading and learning about them.

How much would it cost to rebuild my NA engine so it'll make around 190-200whp parts and labor? Is it possible to do this with a $4000-5000 budget?

for the bottom end between oversized oem itr pistons rings, rod bolts, headstuds and gaskets maybe about a g, plus machine work and assembly, about 2g total for the bottom end. a valvejob from canadian cylinder head is about $250 in labor, last time i called. add another $250-300 worth of seals, gaskets and other parts.

figure another $1000 or so for a pair of cams, valvesprings and retainers. maybe $500ish for tuning and your ecu chipped for something like crome. right there you're at 4 grand easily and then maybe add another 10% for fudge factor, the unexpected and ---- you forgot about.

do you have a header and exhaust that will be enough to support your 190-200whp peak goal? add that to the bottom line too.

add 1500 easily if you're not going to be pulling the motor out yourself and putting it back in and the other assembly work. if you go to the diy section, wildoutgsr posted an excellent step by step rebuild tread a while back.

yeah I have been to wildoutgrs rebuild thread and right now it just doesn't seem like something I have confidence in doing. My garage is pretty small and I'm not sure I even have enough space to do it.

So I'm looking at least $5000+ to get this done. A little more than I expected. I been to other rebuild threads on honda-tech and team-integra and it seems like the prices in the US shops are way cheaper there.

I probably be getting one of those expensive header by hytech or smsp and a 2.5 exhaust to go with it.

Im doing a build right now....no garage. Im building the motor and head in my basement and doing the swap in a friends driveway or at work.

So far im up to around $4000. The total will be around $6000-8000 depending on what parts i get for stuff like clutch, header, LSD or not, and some other unforseen things as usual.

you don't have to do everything all at once you can add simple bolt on's later.

yeah thats what I'm planning to do, but when I rebuild the engines and I want get all the internal components and installed all at once. As for the header and exhaust I'll probably get those before doing the rebuild. Just need to take care of my engine so it'll last maybe until I hit 350kms so I can save up for it.
