Hello Comrads,

I'm looking for a bit of help. I have a 2000, 5 spd Integra SE with 118k on it. I've had the car for about 6 months and would like to do a tune up on it. I have some one lined up who will do the work for me but I'll need to buy all the parts. He suggested buying NGK spark plugs and wires and either GM Syncromesh or Honda MTF for the tranny fluid change. Could someone please refer me to a place that might be cheaper than partsource where I could pick up all the parts.

Here is what he will be doing for me, could you kindly advise if there are any additional things that may have been left out or parts that you would suggest using for this tune up.

• Replace Oil Filter
• Change Engine Oil
• Replace Brake Fluid
• Change Transmission Fluid
• Replace Spark Plugs
• Replace Distributor Cap and Rotor
• Replace Fuel Filter
• Replace Air Filter
• Adjust Valves
• Replace Valve Cover Gasket

which GM tranny fluid and why again?

gm > honda fluid ?

the GM syncromesh works well with our trannys and give you smoother shifting...my tranny take 10w30 motor oil i dunno what i'd use as a substitute

i'd probably go with NGK over Bosch. when i worked at partsouce, i'd reccomend NGK for Jap cars and and bosch for euro cars

bosch come standard on most euro aswell as ngk with jap so marks rite their.

Gm syncromesh will rid you're tranny of any minor grinds and synchro issues it might have,It won't fix the problem,But it will prolong it.

Makes for nice smooth shifting after 1000kms when it's worked in.

You can get synchromesh fluid from a variety of different manufactures.

And what ever you do,DO NOT buy a fram oil filter,Their absolute garbage.

Are all very recommendable filters.

Stay away from cheapo's you'll pay for it in the long run.

Aswell as oil,Stay away from pennzoil,Quakers state as their the same company and come in a very high ash content,

yea dont replace gasket. filter i tihnk performance imporvments still has sale but cheapest is ebay. i bought 2 filters for 2 different cars soo cheap form mikesperformance. oil i went wiht castrol from cdn tire in my car was on sale by luck too. used quakersate filter. plugs NGK performance imporvments. kennedy and lawrence

oh no, i got a fram filter and pennzoil oil...which reminds me i'm way overdue for an oil change...we're talking thousands of km's

I've got about half a quart of pennzoil in my car and it's scaring the crap outta me,Needed oil at 3am and all i could find was a shell that was open :(

yeah fram filters are crap.

when it comes to oil it all depends on how often you change it/need to change it. Not all oils are equal, but the same 5w30 weight oil depending on the company is made for different uses. Racing, High Temps, Low Wear, Extended Drain Intervals, Extra Additives to clean your engine etc...

If you buy redline 5w30 and change it every 6000kms, then have quater state 5w30 and change it every 3000kms it's basically the same ----.

This is assuming all your doing with you car is daily driving. No racing, no towing, no long distance trips etc

Just a quick follow up question. Is it still cheaper to buy the parts that were listed above (spark plug wires/rotor cap) from US sites after shipping, duties and brokerage fees?

no it isn't,it will come very close to the same prices here,might save $2-3 dollars at most.

clubplug.net will save you lots. More like $30-$40. Especially on the O2 Sensor and Spark Plug Wires
