Quick Question
 

Hey you guys, I havn't posted in a while, I hope everyones doing good. I just have a quick question. When I start up the Teg after it's been sitting in the garage all night or what not, I have to let it sit for about 3 minutes, I go right away the car bumps, is that normal for a car that's 10 years old, or is there somthing wrong? Thanks alot.

the car bumps?...when u put it in gear?..if its when u put it in gear, chnaces are its sumthing to do with the tranny

Yea, when I put it in gear, from being parked for a while, to reverse, or drive, it bumps if I don't let it sit for a couple of minutes on. My dad always told me it's because of the age, and to just let it sit for 2 minutes before leaving, is he right? I just hope it's nothing that could make potential buyers for the car when I sell it back out.

lol, sorry, umm let me explain a bit more, the RPM meter, when you start the car should be below the 1, instead when I start mine the RPM is at 2 and a bit, which means I have to wait for the meter to go below the one before I can go or else the car will do a quick "jerk" or whatever you want to call it.

Yea, but is this a serious problem, or somthing that comes with age? If it's too serious i'm going to sell this bad boy right away lol

lol all cars do that....no teg starts at under 1...if it does then theres sumthin wrong...and it jus a lil jerk...not gonna give u whiplash kinda jerk...

get yourself a remote starter from audio heaven and start up your car 5-10 minutes before you leave the house...

thats an expensive bandaid :p

was just a suggestion, can get remote starters anywhere...then again you got the added security for that price

my car does that too when its cold...im sure all of ours do...

Nothing is wrong with your car.

1. When you first start your car after its been sitting overnight, the idel will be higer to reach normal operating temps sooner. This is the same for both manual and auto trans.

2. For auto cars, when you first start the car and shift from park to drive, there is a 'bump' that you feel because the car is not quite warmed up yet.

You dont necessarily have to warm up the car for too long, but once you start driving, the automatic shifts will get smoother. Don't worry, its normal.

i wouldn't worry about it could be age but really not a big issue.

Tune up/valve adjustment.

What I do in the winter is start the car for 1-2 min then drive off slowly not applying to much gas, the car will warm up better this way and faster. It will be rough(shifting) its normal especialy as of late since we are having cooler temps in the early morning late night. I do find it anoying the integra seems worse than any of my friends cars(that are not integras) in the same situation.

how about installing a block heater?

if you have an auto, it's because the tranny is still cold, once it warms up, the "jerk" goes away.

Just let it warm up and you'll be fine.
