Question re: OEM optional kit

Has anybody replaced the rubber moulding/weather stripping/seal on the oem optional sides and rear. If so, is this a factory item or did you have to improvise.

Scott: I remember you saying that a rubber seal from a Toyota kit will fit.

I tried searching for the part itself with no avail. I believe that it is a factory part, however, looking at most OEM kits, the stripping seems generic, meaning, that you should be able to get it at perhaps a specialty auto shop.

i've read multiple threads that the weather stripping off the corolla works, although i don't know what year. im sure they thread is somewhere on h-t.

btw, whats wrong with your weather stripping? looks fine to me, and it's still black!

There is one chunk out of the stripping on the right rear valence that I have covered with electrical tape to make it look right and it bugs me everytime I see it. I want to keep the stripping and I want to keep it black. I remember that it was the Corolla and I think it was the newest one. Corolla S I believe.

Paint the car flat black and you won't even notice it.

Erick:

I have one of the strippings from my old valences from my GS-R. You can have it but it's not black, so you'll have to hit it with some permanent marker.

I had a conversation with you regarding the Toyota Rubber. The first and only time i came down to 403/Dundas.

I'll try to get you the part number later. The Lexus forum is acting up again and won't let me search.

nautica_t YO 11-10-2006 02:36 PM

sorry I took so long with the part number.

Toyota part number is: 61783-35071

The guys on the Lexus forums use this rubber for their front lips generally. The corolla sideskirt rubbers are two pieces and have different thicknesses at a certain point. But the Lexus guys do not use this one, they use the part number listed above.

Now that I've seen yours, I prefer the black, but I can honestly say, I've never seen black stripping on any ITR, evar.....Another unique quality of your ITR. Yellow highbeams as well? I don't remember if that was you or not.
