question about replacing all control arm bushings

i have a 94 integra ls sedan...

should i just go with upgrades or just bushing replacement?

skunk2 upper control arms/camber kit
skunk2 rear lower control arms

what options would i have for front lower control arms?

thanks,
jesse

I find with the SKUNK2 Bushings they tend to break very easily, If you replace them for like 5 bucks each with OEM ones, they will fit better and are slightly larger. Sould last alot longer then the one's provided with the SKUNK2 kit.

how about the engery bushing kit

jesse Jul 21, 2008 06:42 PM

aha, energy.. forgot about them for some reason.. those are the bushings i have in my short shifter.. lol

so... another thing about my rear lca's, they have broken bolts in them (for the sway bar), and broken screw extractors too... so i was likely going to just upgrade them anyway... so i'd likely just look at front bushings.... and possibly even engine mount bushings too, if they're worth it... unless you guys will suggesting a caulking sort of material instead for those? :P

i have the ES bushings in both my front and rear LCA's front ones were done when i installed my first set of coilovers and the rears were on when i put in my Tein's. i honestly couldn't tell you if it made a difference in ride because the suspensions changed it completely. i have the engine mount bushings too but they're not being installed until i do my swap.

well all my bushings are shot (oem components from '94, what do you expect).. and for the engine mounts i think i can get the inserts for $35-40 anyway, so pretty sure the front bushings will be around the same

apparently the engine mount "inserts" are ok to use, even on ripped engine mounts? regardless any kind of help to hold my engine would be good methinks... haha.. it shakes worse than stock

Buff4Prez Yo Jul 21, 2008 07:32 PM

you're gonna get more vibrations from the engine with those mount inserts. i got mine for about 35-40 bucks.

i'd rather the car shake a bit more and transfer power to the ground more than have the engine rock back and forth as it does.. i like the go-kart feel :p haha

I would rec. the Skunk2 control arms and LCA.
Bunch of guys off TI have picked them up from me

I'm not a fan of the poly-urethane stuff. There are however hard rubber bushings out there which are stiffer then OEM, and a much better option then poly. A full bushing kit is only $250 or so.

Otherwise just stick to OEM.

why is that?

stupid question....

according to http://www.skunk2.com/suspension-2.php?code=LCA

P/N 542-05-0110 & 542-05-0100 are for 88-95 civic
P/N 542-05-0105 is for 90-01 integra, 88-95 civic

wouldn't all 3 part numbers all be for 90-01 integra & 88-95 civic?
do all those years of integra/civic share the exact same rear LCA?

just wondering why there's a lack of information on their site, somewhat confusing.. lol

ordered skunk2 gold rear lca's for $200usd (around $208cdn) shipped to my door. thanks ebay.

also got energy front bushing set for $45 and engine mount inserts for $45, both total price shipped

i know engine mount inserts aren't ideal, but i'm going with them anyway.. should help, at least a little for now

bushings to do this weekend, rear lca's next weekend hopefully :)

also got 2 of 3 engine mount inserts installed so far (rear one is left), and hopefully will tackle some or all of the front contorl arm bushings sunday (at least the upper hopefully)

steering wheel vibrates like MAD after those 2 inserts.. both mounts were ripped to shreds though :)
