Painting Spoiler

I got a question regarding painting my spoiler:

I've got the Duplicolor Milano red can, and a faded spoiler. This is the steps i plan to follow.

- Sand the Spoiler with 400 ->800 ->1000
- Spray a coat of primer
- Sand with 800 or so
- Second Primer Coat
- Sand with 800+
- First Paint Coat \
- Sand with 1000 / Repeat this step 3 or 4 times, depending on desired color
- Finish with two coats of clear.

Thats basically what I have in mind. I usually over-do things but i heard that in painting thats a good thing. I'm posting this for suggestions on paint type/brand, and process adjustments as well. Won't be starting this for a couple of weeks anyway but I'd like to get the materials together.

nice write up, now just need some pic's of it after. Paint I have always liked dupont or PPG. But if you are going to be using a spray can, i like dupla color, they are good.

cool guys, I am going to do everything this weekend weather permitting. The reason i'm attempting it myself it (1) Boredom (2) I'm getting my quarter panels cut, welded, and repainted as well as my hood painted professionally for free (family friend) and I'd like to keep my requests of him to a minimum. Anyway, i'll be sure to take alot of pics along the way.

Any suggestions for primer or clear-coat?

so your using acrylic lacquer and duplicolor brand to match ur car? as far as i know u need acrylic enamel just not this lacquer crap u have to sand in between 10 million coats and the ---- is brittle is what i heard. then again its just a spoiler. not sure if i'd do my hood or fender that way.
