I bought a type r spoiler and i thought id be a hero and save some loot and paint it myself..got the colour match n ---- from crappy tire...sanded it down to the fiberglass...and primed it and then sanded that..and then painted...after i painted i noticed mad scratches in the spoiler from the sanding...so basically the spoiler looks like ass...how do i get those scratches out now??? im sure a bodyshop can do it is there ne way around that !!

what kind of sanding paper did you use, you should use very fine for the finish sand so you take the scratches off. You should start with a 200 and finish off with a 400 and even 600-1000 for a nice finish. It also takes time, no bullshit 5 minute sanding. Keep going at it for a while. Also you should buy the paint from C-MAX....(napa stores carry it, but not all) and get that in a spray can, its really good i used the spray for my spoiler and their gallons for the rest of my car. Also, i would not recommed Canadian Tire if you want a job well done, thats just speaking from experience.

what do u suggest me to do to get the scratches out..same procedure u listed..now i understand i gotta like get down to the depth of the scratches what grit should i use to do that !!! ??

REDO IT.

Personally i would start taking off your current paint with 200.
Once its off i would hit the 400 all around to take away those scratches. Run your fingertips on the spoiler in the areas youre done sanding and actually feel and examine if its scratchless. I normally sand with water or wash it off and dry before any painting.

Apply 3 layers of primer, 3 layers of paint, 3 layers of clearcoat. Give it 10-20 minute intervals for it to fully dry. I know it might look dry but its not.

If you already see (you should have seen) scratches on the spoiler on your first layer of primer then thats an indication that you havent done enough sanding... so you might want to use finer sand paper or just redo the spots that need more.

I prefer using the wide spray cap vs. the narrow spray just for evenness.
Give your spoiler 5 days to dry and for the clearcoat to completely harden.
Finally, buff your spoiler.
