painting front end
hey guys! i started working my front end today which i havent touched in quet some time (been busy), got too fed up driving with 3 color front.
but anyways i took my time, sanded it and put primer on it, now just waiting to paint it. not gonna rush, gonna ask you guys for some advice and stuff! first i wanted to ask you guys what color should i paint it, originaly i was thinking black (then the hood), what do you think/suggest? what kind of paint would fit it (looking for something cheap) i wanted to do it flat paint but some people told me i can also buy normal reflective paint in spray cans too. what should i use? http://img383.imageshack.us/img383/8...mg00122vg7.jpg |
shop around for a "respray" since you did most of the sanding it looks like, and looks like you don't need to paint your hood, should cost less than a full paint job. you just need to paint fenders and a bumper, 3 - 5 hundred range i think would be reasonable vs. rattlecan.
just my 2¢. hope this helps. by the way, i say go with the oem colour for the fenders at least. the other stuff might look ok in flat black. gloss black imo is more difficult to work with. |
Canadian tire sells original paint colours in a spray can. Stay with the original colour, going black will make you a heat score.

You're pretty late in the season to do being something like this...
I sprayed my hood and my front bumper... my front bumper took me half a day to do it proper... and another 2 hours of buffing it up good. Basically you want temperatures of 22-30'C without humidity or up to a maximum of 50% which you might get this coming Sunday if you're lucky at noon time. I would go all red, I personally think it looks better. cheapest way is go to Sherwin-Williams and get a large $20 can of spray matched specifically for you. or Crappy Tire $10/can you'll probably need like 5 of them... you'll need primer... etc. also buy some polish so you polish it 5-10 days after your paint job... will look close to OEM. THat's what I did... |
i say you just take it to macco and have them color match it with base and clear.
