new clutch

so just finished installing the clutch. anyways when i press the pedal all the way i hear this little chatter noise like something scraping. but it changes gear fine everything is fine.

Im thinking its the release bearing even though it was brand new. Well i hope its not that.

im just going to break it in and see if i still hear the noise after 400-500 km.

^^
that sounds like a good idea. mind you, the a defective release bearing makes a whizzing noise. however, i wouldnt rule out the possibility. perhaps a misalignment of the PP assembly? most importantly, did you get the flywheel machined as well? it will be interesting to find out what the problem really is

Reza 07-13-2006 09:35 PM

yes i got the flywheel machined. I hope its just a matter of break in.

i ran into that problem before.. it was the pressure plate. either not aligned or not torque properly

if its the release bearing you'll hear the noise when your off the pedal.. not when you press it
try adjusting the clutch cable

PRLUD3_PRNC3SS 07-17-2006 09:13 AM

^^ negative

the release bearing is actuated when the clutch is "released"/depressed/pedal is down. the fact is that the throw out bearing is the point where the stationary portion of the clutch system meets rapid high speed roation on the system.

i second the above post of an improperly torqued PP

i think i just got a hard on. hahaha...jk

adjusted my clutch cable and its now perfection. clutch has been broken into and love the feel especially with typeR flywheel.
