Need a new clutch...recommendations?

Hey guys,

My clutch is slipping and I figured I would get something with more bite to it.

What do you recommend...my motor is stock, and I dont track my car, but do some spirited driving rarely...

Should I just get an aftermarket oem replacement?

non-VTEC 10-02-2005 09:22 PM

Exedy Organic. stage 1.

slightly stiffer pedal feel and it hold 30-35% more power than the OEM clutch. it grabs great and it's probably the cheapest in price out of all the stage 1 aftermarket clutches out there but defiantly not the cheapest in quality.

its a great clutch.....i used it for a couple years and when i took it out it still looked new!

www.clutchcityonline.com is where i got mine from.

i like my exedy organic s 1 too.

Platinum Playa 10-03-2005 10:37 AM

i liked the feel of your Exedy Organic 1, Jeff. However, why not get an OEM one if u dont track and rarely drive hard..You may not like the feel of a beefier clutch.

WildoutWhiteGSR 10-03-2005 11:58 AM

Get a oem clutch. Type R is cheaper than a gsr clutch IIRC.

Madtekniques 10-03-2005 02:14 PM

I have the ACT street/race clutch and it's noticeably different for everyday driving. Much stiffer and a harder grab which I enjoy for about the same $$ as stock. But if you rarely drive hard and you don't track it then I'm with these two guys above, go OEM.

BlueGSR 10-03-2005 04:45 PM

ya it makes sense for me to get an OEM clutch...just wondering what would be the cheaper option...

anyone know the price difference between OEM and a stage 1 clutch? I dont mind the stiffer pedal feel/harder grad, as mine is stiff already....im not sure if the previous owner put in an aftermarket clutch, cuz driving other ppls cars it seems like the pedal is like a sponge!

Big Hairy Gino 10-03-2005 04:50 PM

Mine is soft as a sponge and I love it!

tdot2gteg 10-03-2005 07:09 PM

loll u got one of those clutches so soft u can go to a roll at idle???

95integra 10-03-2005 10:50 PM

I got that POS stock replacement from Canadian tire. Works good(Y) grabs amazing. Sweet Burn outs! Dyna Pac

95integra 10-03-2005 10:51 PM

someone post up prices for the guy here..shesh..thinkin goin with stadge 2 exedy...since I drive my car to ----, and the motor is getting an upgrade, since the genious i paid to do my timing, n valves, fucked up my head:S. low compression pistins, aftermarket cams, and that new turbo:D

MaFiAbOy 11-06-2005 03:18 PM

what are the average prices of putting a clutch disc in??? How about the clutch disc kit??? In the future i plan on swapping out my 1991 civic 4 speed for a B16A, would i be able to use the same clutch if i do a swap??? I dont think so.

PhatGSR 11-06-2005 09:52 PM

act

nightstick 11-10-2005 11:02 AM

Execy Stage 1 is basically an ITR Clutch assembly. ITR's grab 30% more than SI-R/GS-R clutches.

Platinum Playa 11-10-2005 04:26 PM

^i don't think thats 100% accurate. if what your saying is true an ACT stage one would only hold grab 25 % more then a ITR clutch.

WildoutWhiteGSR 11-10-2005 04:53 PM

that's because it isn't

non-VTEC 11-10-2005 04:59 PM

the exedy stage 1 is deffinatly not a ITR clutch........i had both and the ITR clutch slips with any decent amout of power going through it.......the exedy wont.

NaUtiX 01-31-2006 05:55 AM

i was just doing a search for clutches....i'm in the market for a new one myself. Anyone know how much an OEM one is?

WildoutWhiteGSR 01-31-2006 06:07 AM

nope, but a oem type r clutch is cheaper than a oem gsr clutch from our local dealerships.

Reza 01-31-2006 10:20 AM

exedy stage 1 is what i got and i love it. if ur car produces 70 or more horses than the stock hp rating go for exedy stage 2 and 100 after that go for stage 3.

Simo 02-01-2006 10:30 PM

i have DYNOPAK made for the dyno

Kadafi 02-11-2006 06:44 PM

Anyone know of a good place, within drivable distance where i can get an Exedy stage 1 for a decent price?? need one Asap
