NEED HELP type r spoiler On 01 GSR

Hi guys, i need heeelpp. i bought a type r spoiler using the for sale section of this site and i just got it painted black. only problem is the guy at the body shop called us and said he couldnt fit it on my car because the holes did not match. so im sort of it a pickle, from what i read the GSR hatches are different and that its a lot easier to fit the type r spoiler on various models that dont carry the brake light on the smaller spoilers (pretty much all gsr's). I can post some pictures but anyone have a clue of what i should do, or can anyone install this spoiler for me if they own a shop or have past experience.

Any tips will help thanks guys in advance.

Well you can just look at were the hole are now and see where the new holes would be. If they are not very far apart, you can just ream the hole a little longer that way it can bolt up, but if they are way off, just drill new holes, and hope you dont see any of the old hoes, if so, then you need to get the holes welded up, or get a new hatch.

you can add new holes to fit the spoiler but the old holes will still be there which you can buy plugs at partsource for. but it will look ghetto
only thing i can recommend is buy a new hatch or get a body shop to weld those holes and drill new ones/paint the hatch

The GSR and Type R OEM spoiler mount holes match up 100%. I own a type R with both spoilers and both interchange without problems. Be sure your type R spoiler is oem, and another thing, the trunk lid has the drill locations already there, it's not like you have to measure out the holes so if both are OEM, I can't see why there is a problem. The only problem with this is that the third hole on the right for the elecrical to pass through will be half exposed when the type R spoiler is on. Cut out a small peice of electrical tape, cover the hole and then mount the spoiler. I will guarantee that it is 95% unnoticeable. Many people have seen my car and nobody has ever mentioned it.

Thanks guys for the responses so far what dave said is pretty much what I've been told by others too, appearently the gsr hatch holes are a bit different from type r hatch because of the brake led. So yah, plugs and a Lil bit of drilling should prolly do it

Its exactly what mr. y said i have a 00 gsr and i put a type r spoiler on my car. I took out the stock one and the type r one went in all the holes except 2 i think cant remember now. 1 large hole on the right rear and one small hole on the left but the four from the type r spoiler goes right in.

None of the holes match up, both spoilers say Honda under them which makes them oem, I got the spoiler on however. We cut off the bolts off the spoiler, put it on the hatch and just drilled and screwed it onto the trunk
