My Cayuga Runs

Hey guys just thought i'd post my expirience or lack off it at the track. This was my very first time on the track so it was a real learning exprieince, and im sure alot of the future trips there will be too.

I will skip some details. Overall i ran 7 passes each getting faster. Started with a 16.6 then i plataued at 15.7 and ran 2 at 15.65.
My best was best times were. (all in seperate runs)
60' was 2.47 (No burnouts, running 34 psi, launching like a n00b LOL)
Best MPH was 90.04.
Best 1/4 was 15.65.

Overall it was VERY fun and worth it, I also learned that driving at the track is very different as people have told me, especially launching.

Im already excited up for next time and have a few ideas how to go faster.
-lower tire PSI
-preload on the launches/practise different launch rpm's
-try shifting at higher or lower rpm's thru the gears, i shifted at 7900-8000 most runs.
-keep it in 3rd thru the finish instead of going into 4th (atleast try to see if it helps or not)

Any other advice/tips?

Telling us the car you have might help, but I'm guessing you have a DC2 GSR? I would say the most important thing is 60ft times. for a FWD 2.4 is average 2.2 is good and 2.0 is really good but probably only possible with DR's

For Comparison I have a 99 LS and ran a 15.7 best as well, Im bone stock with just a drop in filter, I think i was shifting around 6700rpm

try lauching the car like you're leaving a traffic light, only faster. like ride the clutch a bit instead of just side stepping it i've seen alot of ppl try launching at 3000 and they just bog out of the whole. gotta remember that the tarmac at the track has more grip than the street you won't break traction as easy. it's worth a shot. and i've seen it work.

Its a 96 GSR with a intake, header, catback. And yeah i gotta mess with my launching.

Right now im trying to edit the video but im getting a headache trying to figure out the whole program and stuff so it might be a few days.

also, you can try to preload for the take off. what that is, is you stick it in first, and pull up on the e-brake to hold your position. let go of the clutch a bit so you feel the car wanting to move forward but it's still held in place at the line by the e-brake. then when the light goes; give er ----!

what the heck? 15.6? when i had my stock ls i only had intake header full exhaust and a street tune and i hit 15flat or really low 15s. gsr with that mods should hit 15 or high 14s. hey bro try this.. strip the car including passenger seat and you'll be surprise how much time you shave off. also if you KNOW what your doing play with the dizzy to get more power..

Thanks for the comments, like i said it was my very first time doing the 1/4 mile. So i was a complete n000b to launching, i ran stock tire pressures and yeah...i'll make you guys proud next time i go :).
