Default My abnormal temp gage reading

I know, I know, I drive a Civic but I'd feel more confident asking it here than TCC, where someone will tell me to slap on another sticker to fix it. :laugh1:

My temp gage isn't giving me an accurate reading, the needle stays at the cold mark and won't move up.
Today, I've driven my car from Etobicoke to Kitchener and the needle still stays in cold. :*****:

Blahhh I hope someone out there knows what I'm trying to say and can help me! :confusedo

First try to start your car from cold with the rad cap turned back one click.
and let it fully warm up.
There might be a air lock and it will cost you nothing to try.

some of my cooling problems

thermostat is stuck open. you'll need a new one, they are pretty cheap, roughly $40?

2 things, either there's no coolant in your rad and engine, I doubt it or your thermostat has taken a ---- on you.

if not the termostat, could be a coolant temp sensor

I looked it up and if it's the thermostat, my engine would've been over-heating, which it hasn't been.
What it seems to be is the temp sensor. Anyone know how easy it is to replace?

when the thermo is stuck open, the engine doesn't overheat.

i replaced mine last winter and my temp gauge was stuck on cold all the time.

stuck closed = overheat
stuck open = no heat.

if it was a switch, it would most likely throw a code.

I've had to replace two switchs, one for the fan not turning on (fan switch) and the other didn't detect when to turn the fan on (ect switch)
