Moisture in tails
 

My 96's tail lights have moisture in them is there anyway to open and reseal the tails

take them out and dry them out completly of moisture and put a bead of silicone around the edge where the lense meets the tail light housing. Do it very carfully and keep the bead clean and tidy and don't over do it. Let it fully cure for a few hours to a rubber like state and then reinstall the lights. You may have to have them out for a while try using a hair dryer from the backside of them so it is directed into them through the light bulb holes so take them out obviously and when you think alll the moisture is gone it's not, keep going or it will reapear as soon as they cool down i would say dry them for 45 minutes to an hour so. I have done this before so i know it suck but you have to get all the moisture out.

Go to the dealer and buy a new housing gasket.

Works best when it's hot and sunny.

Remove tails and place them in the sun.
I used windshield sealant around the gasket where it contacts the lights.

For the stubborn water, I used a tiny drill bit to drill upwards (from the side, not face on!) and drained it that way. Sunned it, then put that windshield sealant into the hole (I used Permatex flowable windshield sealant).

Then before I put the tails back on, I put some of that sealant around the contact points of the gasket to the car.

I've got this problem on my left tail light, and same side front corner light. Next summer I'll look into doing this myself.

Also check your trunk to see if there is any water. Because of the tail lights leaking I was forced to sand down and repaint my trunk, all the water ended up rusting the paint.

On my other car, after discovering a leak, I repaired the gasket, but then I went as far as coating the trunk with rubberized asphalt undercoating.

Iv had this problem in my grand prix, i just took them out and used a blow dryer to get it all dry then put them face down on a damp towel in the oven at 150 for a few mins then take them out and push them together, this is what i did and it worked very well, also did it to take the amber side markers out of my headlights

take out the bulbs, and use a blow dryer at those openings, to get out the moisture.

use a clear silicone, run over the edges of the taillight where the red plastic meets the black plastic. while the silicone is still wet, wipe the excess silicone off with your finger.

let dry for an hour or two, (so at least the silicone hardens) reinstall. it'll dry/cure on your car anyway.

i fixed a leaky headlight this way.

*new gasket is a good idea too.

drill a tiny hole at the bottom of the tail light that collects the most water so it drains out if it happens again.....did it to mine and never collected condensation since i did it.

try a new gasket. to dry them out just take them out and put them in a low moisture area
