Lights fading
 

well my problem is that my lights are fading on my dash when i play my music loudly i went to mechanic to see if it was my alternator and he said the battery tester was reading 14 meaning the alternator was charging it so i changed my battery and i still have the same problem i have two amps a cap i changed my battery got a brand new interstate...i was thinking i should upgrade my alternator that can either charge faster if thats possible ......does anyone have ne ideas

What kind of cap do you have. Perhaps you might have to add another one or get a better one...Looks like your system is draining the cap and putting a load on the battery...

Also, make sure you're cap is fully charged...

no matter what you do to your electrical system it will always dim or flicker when the bass notes hit.....the amperage always fluctuates with the amount of current your amplifiers consume. no fix for that only turn the volume down a bit.

even if you found a high output alternator you will still see some flickering of the lights.

no worth the effort IMO.

i understand what you are saying but i noticed that it flickers way more then it would normally do and the battery is brand new.. i also noticed since its been a bout a week since i changed the battery the sound quality sucks and this happens wen theres not enough power from the battery or the cap because i recently changed my cap as well

u better buy a pack of fuses and keep them in ur carbc it sounds like ur going to blow a fuse at that rate. i had this same exact problem last winter with dual subs in the back pounding at a high volume. while i was driving on the highway, my lights were dimming and when i would push the gas pedal, i didnt accelerate at all. felt like i was on neutral so i had to pull over and all of a sudden i could drive again for a short distance. anyway i figured it was the fuse at midnight on the side of the road...
anyway i needed a new battery the next day and several days after that i decided to buy a capacitor for my monoblock and its been good since then... good luck

I recommend a bigger Capacitor... solved my problem, if your subs are pounding at over 1000rms, u need atleast a 1farad to 2 farad capacitor!

lol 1000 rms... from 12 volts.... it's like a home theater in a box that says 1000 watts :lol:

i had the same problem but i fixed it by getting a smaller sub and amp. i'm done with the whole car rattling bass thing. great weight savings too.

I used to big into it too. Now all I have is 2 small fosgate 10's in a sealed box. The whole car is dynomatted so it doesnt rattle at all. The best addition to my system was mids and tweats all around and a decent 4 channel amp. I have no interest in a 1000 watt amp and subwooofers anymore.. My little 200 watt setup is keeping me happy

that's still more than i have. i only have a single 10 in a tiny sealed box and just coaxials front and rear

get a second battery
