I looked at a few tegs the other day and I noticed my teg doesnt have this ground wire coming of the head, thanks

MPR 09-02-2010 09:42 AM

It's just a ground wire. There is one from the negative of the battery to chassis, engine to chassis (the on in the picture), and tranny to chassis.

It's all just to make sure the engine is well-grounded so that anything that's grounded to the engine (sensors etc...) will function properly and also be grounded to the chassis.

Mine runs fine, should I put a ground there, just incase,

AcuratePaul 09-02-2010 11:07 AM

When I did my swap I forgot to hook that ground up and my engine would not turn.

suboc 09-02-2010 11:11 AM

I didnt do the swap , but it must be grounded somewhere else. I`m going to ground it there too, wont hurt right

Vida 09-02-2010 11:27 AM

Leave the ground wire there. Im sure its not a huge eye sore for you that you have to remove it.

suboc 09-02-2010 12:40 PM

That engine isnt mine, My engine doesnt have that ground coming off the head onto the rad support. I got that photro off the internet, so Im wondering if I should put one on mine

nizmo 09-02-2010 01:48 PM

omg, leave the ground there. if you dont have one, get one and forget about it. simple ---- people. Do you research on it, "google it" for christs sake. If you look at many different honda motors, almost everyone has a wire there. Its not rocket science.

your title is "just wanted to know what this ground wire is for". I dont mean to sound rude man, but what kind of a question is that? you basically answered it yourself. Its a ground wire that GROUNDS you engine/chassis.

SOR 09-02-2010 02:06 PM

lol... does anyone even read his post? the picture isn't his car. his car DOESN'T currently have the ground wire he's just wondering if he should put one in..... you don't have to be-little his question.

the answer is what MPR said. and yeah i would put one back on your car, can't hurt anyways.

AcuratePaul 09-02-2010 02:19 PM

^^^ I hear ya SOR.

MPR 09-02-2010 02:30 PM

If there isn't one there and your engine runs fine, then chances are there is another one somewhere else. You can add one if you want. It's a good idea to have one from both tranny and engine to chassis to handle all the power that's going through it from the spark plugs and sensors etc...

I kind of agree with Ryan. Many times a quick google search will answer most questions...

suboc 09-02-2010 05:01 PM

Thanks guys and sorry if I pissed anyone off, I am a noob haha, Im a super noob when it come to engines, thats why I ask so many questions, but I will google and if I cant find what Im looking for I`ll start another thread,
thanks and cheers

More are always better!! I had a civic back in the day that kept blowing dizzies and no one could figure it out. I finally got sick of it and made a hyper ground system of my own. Never had an issue again! So yea, more is better, especially if ur old wires are are starting to show their age

suboc 09-03-2010 04:43 PM

sweet thanks for all the help, I put on on the other day,
thats a nice civic freestyle
