Just a Question

ok... i know i should proly post this on a suzuki forum, but i know the resources here have served me well in the past with info.

i just bought a winter "beater", its a 96 suzuki sidekick jx (4dr extended model)

paid 2000 cash

came e-tested
new motor (80k on it)
new 4spd automatic with 5/12 gears
3 1/2" lift all jeep cherokee suspension
all american rims wrapped in 31" bf goodrich mud terrains
new seats, carpet. Stereo components (minus a sub)
cb radio
welded 1/4" rockers
welded tube bumper with winch mount
welded 1/4" skid plate under armor
kyb shocks
rocker guarded

the bad: needs a brake flex line on the front and has some minor fender rust

will pass safety when flex line is repaired, and it came with the e-test done

(lol, little brag session cause i think i got a sweet deal. feel free to tell me what you think)

now onto the question. i started it up and the freakin heater/cooling fan keeps starting and stopping randomly. any idea what it could be? the wires are solid and the fuse is new.......

That just sounds sick wanna see this thing post some pics sounds like a fun weekend toy going off roading.

As for the problem with your fans my dad had a problem similar to this in his Malibu but his fans didn't work on the low numbers just the high ones. There was one part we had to get for it. It is the chip that is like a mini ecu kinda and it was under the passenger side. I don't know if that the same thing that is wrong with yours but it sounds like it's a faulty computer thing since it's and on and off thing so maybe look into that...?

I can't speak to that truck specifically, but, I'll bet it's pretty bouncy on the road. Perhaps over the years, the connection from the fan swtich to the ECU has wiggled loose. Or maybe the controller that's under the dash (as AcuratePaul said above) has a cracked circuit board from bouncing around...

Anyway - a trip through the scrap yard might find a cheap replacement...good luck :yeah:

that little ECU u guys keep refering to is a blower motor resistor, at least thats what toyota calls it. It looks like a mini computer chip which it essentially is. ask ryan im sure he can have one in a day or two for u... good thing u tried here first huh?
