Itr Lsd

Wanted to get some opinions of using the ITR LSD on a gen3 GSR.

Some pros and cons. My car only has bolt-ons and is a daily driver, not tracked.

Would there be any advantages for winter and rain for example? Would it be worth it? and how much would labour cost anyway?

from what you decribed it wouldn't be worth if for you, your gonna spend the money have it installed and not use it to its full potention why bother?

definitely a worthy upgrade, regardless of whether you track the car or not, imo. you get more power to the ground, better traction, less wheel spin. i drove my buddies stock gsr with lsd and just accelerating around corners it felt so much more controlled.
and in the winter, lsd with a set of snows will get you pretty much anywhere. unless you car is too low. an itr lsd is very high on my to do list. i almost put one in a few months ago when my tranny came apart, but couldn't fine one.

labor will be a hefty chunk though. if you need to pull your tranny apart anytime soon for bearings/seals that would be a great time to do it. or even at the same time as a clutch. but just dropping a tranny alone to install an lsd if your paying someone else to do it might be sort of hard to justify.

ITR LSD would be nice but wouldnt be worth it just becuase of the cost for install. But my ITR LSD in my integras was pretty nice but I had mine because it came in the ITR tranny ;)

A buddy of mine was saying that an ITR LSD might not sit properly in a GSR tranny due to shims not fitting right or something. He also said that it might be noisy because of that. Is there a definitive way to install it properly? What kind of shims would you need?

WildoutWhiteGSR Oct 5, 2005 11:54 AM

Correct, you need to replace one shim. Some fit perfectly and some need a new shim.

Is it a worthwhile upgrade. Yes. Cost effective, no.

I will post the link on how exactly to install a lsd with the proper shim when I get home. It's in the helms as well.
