Integra broke down

Hey guys..

Just went out today after my car was parked for a day. Anyways I get to the plaza and go onto park the car when I hear a loud noise from the front as I was turning the wheel...first though that I went over something..so I went out to take a look at it and my tire was on a slant and the cars height was dropped also..tow truck came and inspected it...my axles are done for and I have a blall joint to replace..towed the car back home..

how much do u guys think I will need to spend?

$40-$70 for the ball joint and about $120 each axle but if you changing both axles you're gonna have to replace the other ball joint. the side with the snapped ball joint has the bad axle because the when the ball joint snapped the cv joint got seperated.

thats not bad...I was estimating it ti be around $400-$500...

that's not including labour

Which ball joint snapped - the upper or lower?

Lower is more labour intensive as it needs to be pressed in. The uppers are easy to change as you simply change the upper control arm.

:wtf:

Why does the other ball joint need to be replaced?

ninety5teg Jan 1, 2007 08:00 PM

my guess is they are both done for...

Buff4Prez Yo Jan 1, 2007 08:07 PM

cuz the ball joint ends up being destroyed trying to seperate and/or once seperated....at least it has with all 8 that i've replaced

I guess I will find out the damage once the car gets towed to the mechanic tomorrow...

Buff4Prez Yo Jan 1, 2007 11:37 PM

any body damage? both mine snapped on my DA and both instances the fender had to be replaced.

ninety5teg Jan 2, 2007 10:24 AM

drivers side fender has gone in....it needs a bit of body work...the ball joint snapped and along with it teared the whole thing out...
just had body work and paint job done to the car recently...:(

Buff4Prez Yo Jan 2, 2007 10:53 AM

ninety5teg Jan 2, 2007 11:04 AM
