i put in my HIDs.. one problem! help
right now i am stuck.. i need your help here
ok so i took to doing the HIDs myself.. i had the worst time ever drilling a hole for the balast blackets in the frame but i did it and connected all the wires, matching red with red and black to black... i go to switch em on and nothing ! just the signal lights turn on. do you think this could be cause i took out the other bulbs? (dont ask ahha) im going to run to the store right now and grab a new pair for the main lights. |
First of all, you dont have to drill a hole. you can mount them behind the fenders with the bracket. By the washer fluid theres a hole, you can tuck them in there, I have mine ziptied in there, Its been there since October and never gave me a problem. And for the passanger side, if you have ABS, i mounted mine right by the ABS, if you dont, you can put them behind the fender as well.
Also, what bulb size did you get? Low beams are 9006, Highs are 9005. |
I got the 9006 8000k
ah well i drilled a hole :( i seen those holes you were talking about. haha just got back from the store, gonna pop in the bulbs soon |
stuck the HIDs in the lows (the lights on the outside) ..i hope!
|
yaa i got nothing. nooo lights going on at all. just side markers.
|
Check your fuses. its underneath the driverside by the steering wheel. Check the fuses there. I think its a 10 or 15 amp fuse. For me in the winter I tended to randomly blow a fuse in the drivers side low beam which i have my HIDs on. Check both of yours.
Or Maybe you plugged it wrong? Take a pic of your connections |
I remeber when I was doing my hid's (I drilled holes too) it was simple unplug the stock ones and plug in the new ones. And just put the new bulbs in place. All I had to change was the rubber around the light blubs took them off the stock ones. And bam it worked. Make sure and even triple check check all the plugs make sure they are super tight even if it's a little losse they won't turn on. Good luck!
|
Thats true about the bulbs being plugged right. When you connect it the main oem relay or whatever, make sure its in the right way and that its tight as hell. Its gonna be a BITCH taking it out but thats how it is. Its the reason why it took me a long ass time to pull appart the stock bulb from the harness or whatever, its just stuck in there so good :(

The kit you should have gottin should have been plug and play, and not had to wire up anything.
I have mine wired right up to my harness, but that's how I wanted mine tho. PS - Stacey if you want me to have a look at them for you I can. Just I will not be able to do it this weekend as i'm in NY, but i can on monday night or later tonight if you want. You have my cell so just let me know. |
I got a harness with the kit. that confused me. in the book i got with the kit it says "relay harness must always be used" is that what that is? uhhh
im thinking i blew a fuse. maybe i need a stronger fuse? |
I have never used a relay in any kits i have put in, but it should still just be plug and play. No you don't want to put a bigger fuse in there, because you can start fires that way because if it's drawing to much current, and it's normally designed say a 10 amp fuse, and you replace it with say a 15 or 20 amp fuse, you take the chance of have the wiring catch on fire.
Want to meet up right now and I can take a look at it for you? |
^^ sorry i had to go to work.
im home from work now so im going to go ahead an install the relay harness.. i really think the balasts need a little help from the battary so ill do that now.. |
okay i installed the harness. and so out of all 4 lights i got one friggen HID to turn on. how nice.
|
alright, now everyone may now disregard this thread! i fixed everything :)
turns out you really need a relay harness. and secondly, make sure the connections are good. even if the plugs are all secure, check all around the plug because with my driver side HID, the tiny plug came loose from its houseing.. i saw the metal rod come out fully.. i cant explain. but its all done. thanks for your help folks :) |
awesome. But I never really heard of too many peole running relay harnesses on their lows. Maybe you got a 55watt kit? Cuse I know 35 is the best bet. Oh well, glad that everything worked out right
NOW WHERES THE PICS |
Glad everything is A OK!!!
