I need help. paint issue!!!

A while ago my friend decided to get shoe cleaner. The black paint for black shoes. She squirted it on my car and now it wont come off. Any way i can take it off without damaging my car.

Thanks.

Try "Goof Off"

slvr_dc2 Sep 14, 2007 10:03 AM

Where is it on your car? Inside or out? Try using some AP Cleaner...Use stronger chemical to take it off. Or buff it off without smudging the polish..

JDM_overdose Sep 15, 2007 03:21 PM

its on my drivers door. Will any of those products ruin my paint??

Kraz13 Sep 15, 2007 06:10 PM

I hear if you drive really really fast it will just blow off...no promises.

Or maybee...try some brake fluid as someone once suggested LOL

Brake fluid or brake cleaner might work but it has the possibility of damaging the finish you could try those but have a hose ready to spray the stuff off fast

dc24me Sep 15, 2007 09:20 PM

i'd try bug and tar remover first.

Kraz13 Sep 15, 2007 10:04 PM

I dunno but heres a thought...goo gone maybe? They sell those little bottles at crappy tire that should take off all kinds of stuff.

slvr_dc2 Sep 17, 2007 10:01 AM

I wouldnt go too strong yet. Brake fluid is probably more dangerous for your paint than other chemicals. Whatever you use will probably dull the paint a little bit. Just got to restore the paint with a good wax/polish. Try wet sanding it off if you don't want to use chemicals, that could work as well...

Do Not Use Brake Fluid

a_z Sep 17, 2007 03:50 PM

acetone or varnish might work..

tegra Sep 18, 2007 10:14 AM

use a clay bar
http://www.carbrite.com/servlet/com....pot%20Removers
(that purple one)

i use to detail at a body shop and a car came in that needed spray paint off (the whole car) and thats what i used. it may take some serious time but it will get it off.
good luck.

Mike935 Sep 20, 2007 10:21 PM

+1 for clay bar,

i also did pro detailing, and with the clay, almost nothing has a chance!

Nawaaz Sep 21, 2007 06:41 PM

yea... the clay bar works amazingly.. I say try the clay bar... :D

clay bar doesnt work.

The paint on my car is paint for painting your shoes black.

JDM_overdose Sep 22, 2007 12:35 PM

clay bar doesnt work. I've tried it already for lik 3 hours. Maybe i should get a new door,if i paint it over... its gonna cost me more then if i would buy a new door.

w.e its not 2 noticable...

I have a question for people that suggested you not use brake fluid.

Has anyone of you had a bad experience with brake fluid? Or you just heard that "it was bad for your paint"? If you never tried it, then don't suggest smth you never tried yourself. If you tried it and you managed to ruin your paint, then you did smth wrong. Brake fluid WORKS.

And it's certainly cheaper than getting a new door and paiting it.

Well ive used break fluid and washed it off right away. But it doesnt take off all the paint. I work at mufflerman and the guys there tell me it will eat my paint. Because the fluid eats everything.

edit- this isnt vanessa

JDM_overdose Oct 3, 2007 02:02 PM

no no my mistake... i ment to say it didnt take off any of my paint because i washed it right away with water.

Polyethylene glycol and other brake fluid ingredients may be corrosive to paint and finished surfaces such as chrome and thus care should be taken when working with the fluid. Additionally, polyethylene glycol, in the concentrations found in DOT brake fluids, reacts violently, producing a large fireball, with some household chemicals, notably pool care products

this is why you need to watch out with the brake fluid it may work but its your own fault if you do it wrong and wrek your paint, brake fluid is also water soluable so you can safely remove it with a hose
