From HT This applies to cars that are not already pre-wired for vtec. What you will need 1.Soldering gun 2.Solder 3.16-18 guage electical wire (7 feet apprx.) 4.1 big pin for ecu harness (A4 Vtec Soleniod) 5.1 small pin for ecu harness (D6 Vtec Oil Pressure Switch) 6.3/8 ratchet 7.10 mm socket 8.4-5 in extension 9.Connector for Vtec Solenoid 10.Connector for Vtec OP Switch 11.Heat Shrink tubing (8 inches or so) 12.Electrical Tape 13.Phillps Screwdriver (optional) 14.Convoluted tubing (3-4 feet optional) 1.Start by removing the negative battery cable. 2.Remove 6 screws holding the Glove Compartment in and then remove. I'm not running A/C, so I chose to remove the glove compartment and evaporator to gain access to the big hole on the firewall to route my wiring through. You may choose to route it through another source in the firewall but I found this to be the easiest way. 3.Pull carpet back 4.Remove 6, 10mm nuts holding in the kick panel that covers the ECU. 5.Remove kick panel. 6.Remove 4, 10mm bolts holding in the ECU and then remove the ECU. Onto the Wiring. 7.Cut 2, 3 1/2 foot long wires from the 16-18 guage electrical wire. If you are routing your wire through the firewall from a smaller opening that the pins can not fit through, then route the wiring through the firewall after you cut the wires. If you choose to do it this way, be careful when soldering your connections. 8.Start with the Vtec Solenoid connector. Feed 2 in of heat shrink tubing through the wire then connect the wiring on the connector to one end of the 16-18 guage electrical wire. Then wrap the solder around the wiring connection you just made. Melt the solder and then slide the heat shrink tubing over your connection. Then connect the big pin (for the ecu harness/A4) to the other side of the 16-18 guage electrical wire Take a look at the connection in the pic (nevermind the quadzilla in the backround) 9. Repeat the process for the Vtec OP Switch. The connector for the Vtec OP Switch will have two wires. (one blue/one black) The blue wire is hot, connect this to the 16-18 electrial wire. The black one is for the ground, just connect this wire to the ground on the thermostat housing where the other ground wire is. After you heat shrink and electrical tape all of your connections, they should look something like this. 10.Route the pins through the firewall to connect to the ECU harness. Plug the pins into the appropriate position in the harness Big Pin A4 Small Pin D6 Here's a pic of me inserting the A4 pin 11.After you have finished that, you can plug in the connectors to the Vtec Soleniod and the Vtec OP Switch and then ground off the black wire for the OP Switch. I am using the h23 harness so I had to cut the connectors off of my jdm h22 harness. You will need these connectors to perform the procedure. Another pic 12.Plug in ECU 13.Reconnect battery cable 14.Reconnect intake (i removed this because it makes things easier to work on) 15.Start car, make sure there is no check engine lights let the car warm up, go test VTEC If everything goes smoothly, bolt down the ecu and kick panel and reinstall everything in reverse order and you're good to go.
