How to clean TPS? (throttle position sensor)
My throttle reading on my VAFC is erratic. It doesn't climb gradually as I accelerate. It climbs, but it goes up and down like: 0, 5, 10, 5, 15, 10, 20, 15, 25, 35, etc. and often skips numbers as it is climbing. Could this be the TPS? If so, how do I clean it? My car is a 99 Type-R.
My VAFC flickers, but I believe that it flickers more than normal. It doesn't flicker by one or two % points. It flickers at least in 5's. From what I remember on my dyno plot, the power band showed a pattern of increasing hp/torque from the left of course, but it goes up and down (maybe fluctuating 1-2hp) all the way up to redline.
Also, in monitor mode, i switched it to the analog mode where you can see the PRS in one reading and the THR on the other. I looked as I accelerated and the PRS was going smoothly, while the THR was bobbing up and down as it increased.
I checked the throttle cable and it's tight. Car is well-maintained and there are no problems or serious mods besides basic bolt-ons and a testpipe.

re-check the connections from the AFC at the ECU...make sure they are not connected with those supplied butt connectors. you should have them soldered to provide the best connections.
if thats not the problem then maybe the AFC is no good.........you can't clean the TPS sensor and you can't even replace it. honda wont sell you just a TPS sensor they would sell you the whole throttle body for about $600+
