Default Hood Pins??

Okay soo....i got a carbonfiber hood and on the expressway it does flex and bounce around quite a bit, question is for you guess who know your ----, should i GET hood pins?? or are they kinda just a waste of money? i mean sparco pins are only $60 bucks and i dont mind spending it but what are my chances of my hood actualy flipping up??

and the second question, has anyone installed them their self?? or should I get a shop to do it, im pretty confident in work i do but i dont know much about carbon fiber and if it will crack\pull the weaves out?

They would not hurt to have them, just to have the extra help to keep the hood down. If the hood was cheaply made, yes the hood could fly apart right where the latch is, but most likely not. I have installed them before on a few cars I have owned, and they are not hard to do. You can get the cheaper one's for like $20 brand new.

I fixed the bounce problem. You gotta drill your hood now, and drill your frame. Might crack your hood whn you drill it.

They are a waste of money

WTF are you talking about, drill your frame, you only drill the hood and that's it.

sorry not the frame, the metal piece that your hood latches to. that piece that goes along the bumper and hood liner.

what are you talking about, only drill the hood??? where is it going to latch onto

I believe Anthony ment core support (where rad/headligts mount)
And OP most people get hood pins and still use the latch. That gets annoying since you must pull the pins out then pop the hood and unlatch stock latch. Now the hood pins adjust when you install them, to how much the whole is sticking out for the pin, so yes if you install it and secure it down tight, the front will be much tighter and should eliminate a lot of the flex.
If I was you, I would not get rid of stock latch, even though its annoying to open and people may talk ----, I wouldn't really feel right knowing that its just the hood pins are holding the hood.

You still don't need to drill the upper rad support, there's holes in there already.

there are holes in the support. but if u want them in another position, then you gotta drill into it.

I would do it for u, but i dont wana drill ur hood. But its easy. and u got the bits for it too.

You should be fine regardless. Don't just drill the hole of the size you need, start off small and go bigger from there.

Mount the rod to the rad support first, and them just lower the hood onto the rods, and look at where it hits, and mark it some how, or put some paint on the top of the rod, and lower the hood on them. that will give you a close idea on where it should be.
