High pitch sound

Just got my Teg in the summer so I'm a rookie.
I'm getting a high pitch sound coming from my engine when I start it up and while driving. I never had this issue the other cars I've driven. Does it have to do something with the cold weather? The sound isn't that bad after driving for a bit.

Thanks.

like belt squeel? try some belt dressing.

More detail is needed

95integra 12-07-2005 10:06 PM

its your timing belt. Change it, and it'll go away. that squeel happens around 2-3 grand RPMS right? if so..it means yer belts old! change it b4 it snaps!!

Geared belts don’t squeal(aka timing belt)
First check your V-belts (power steering, alternator, or AC belts)
Belt dressing works great. And the cold weather will make a difference because your moving parts need to work harder in this weather.

timing belts do make noise when their old. and I did not tell him it was his timing. Im telling him check the belt. most likely it needs to be changed. SECOND I did not ---- up my motor. ------- who worked on the car did! Doesnt matter now! I have a new one. so spaz out some more. but i think its that. Once i had mine done properly. a very high pitched noise went away:) once again as people say. unless you can hear it. your cant diagnose it! its just a thought. so chill out.

no wait! lol I did tell him it was his timing. but i kno from experiance..it makes some annoying noises when old.

Welcome to TI. To save yourself any headaches, do NOT do anything that 95integra suggests or advises to do.

you will either
- ---- up your engine
- blame everyone else for the reason why your car won't start
- lose brain cells and/or $ from his stupid and usually not well planned out primative thought process similar to an amoeba.

Tighten your belts to the proper tension, or replace them

Belt dressing is a placebo....

DaGizzer 12-08-2005 08:46 AM

Belt dressing is ----. Does not help at all and will dry out your belt even more once it evaporates from the heat of the engine.

if you pour water on the belt the squeeling should go away. if it does you know the problem. aslo the distributors are known for seazing so thats another thing to look into
