HID Question

Anyone on this board running an aftermarket HID kit on their stock halogen housings, mainly on the older Integras say like 92?

I'm just trying to get some feedback on how they look without the proper retrofit and if it's worth the purchase.

Thanks guys.

That does look sweet dude. How's the light output on it?

By the looks of it a retrofit might not even be necessary imo.

One word - glare.

And lots of it.

I'm so against HID's in the DA. Ya, it gives you 10x better output but from an oncomer's standpoint, I'd throw rocks. It's too damn blinding.

Ha, Fuzzy's idea of a good beam cut-off is vertical.

I don't need to even see any pictures - I already know you have glare, whether you believe it or not. HID kits in reflector bowl housings can be easily spotted because of the poor optics of the headlight. Retro-fitters and the oncoming drivers will tell you as well.

When you do your retro, you'll see what I (and others) are talking about.

haha fuzzy and cock-eyed ;)

Thanks for all the input guys. I knew the glare issue was going to come up as I've ben reading a lot on the net over the last few days.

Given all the feedback I'm still unsure if I want to proceed with it. Only if the glare wasn't so bad.

Anyone done a retro fit on the older Integras yet?

blackeagle Feb 22, 2007 03:44 PM

I found this on the web earlier as a response to the glare issue.

What do you guys think?

Up to you. Try it with different materials.

I have one more question.

I installed the kit on Friday and it worked very well up until a few minutes ago where the drivers side is completely dead. I called the company and they told me to start off with checking the fuses for the headlights.

Is there such a thing or should I be looking for a blown bulb or a bad ballast?

HKJ Mar 4, 2007 06:55 PM

did you upgrade your fuses before installing your kit? it's recommend that you do. find the fuse that blew, and just upgrade it to like a 10a or something.

------- :finger: but his kit does have alot of glare, just not asmuch as those 10,000000000K hid kits.

Sorry Black Eagle for not responding to your PM. Ill put it out here so you and everyone with Gen 2 integra knows when asking about a HID retrofit.

G2 OEM headlights regardless if they are USDM or JDM are not preferred for use with HID "projector" D2S/D1S or reflector "D2R/D1R" based retrofit applications because:

1) the halogen headlights are NOT made for HID because of the fluted or unclear lens (fluted G2 vs non fluted (G3))
2) Glare. (yeah Im a retrofit glare nazi *rolls eyes*)

As fuzzy suggested, get a pair of clear headlights off eBay or a car "performance shop" that sells those items but remember they may NOT be as good (see: Quality) as your OEM headlights.
