help needed, teg revs from 800-1400 at stops
Need some help,,, I have the b16 vtec in my teg,,, a few weeks ago it started to rev from 800 to about 1400rmps while sitting at a light or stop sign, I cleaned then changed my idle air sensor, but it didnt fix anything,,, would this have anything to do with my 02 sensor
thanks |
You mean you cleaned your IACV?
http://www.team-integra.net/images/B.../P10102242.jpg Does it rev like this when the engine is cold? Or does it rev it when its at operating temperature also? |
well sometime it started right from morning, but usally after driving for about 10 to 20mins, and it doesnt do it all the time, and no I didnt clean the IACV, should I try that
|
Yes that is one thing you can try. You can use some throttle body cleaner to clean it out. Just watch when you take it out because some coolant may come out and make a mess. While your add it, you might as well clean the throttle body.
These need to come off before you remove it. Just dont loose the rubber gasket that comes with it when you take it off. http://www.team-integra.net/images/B.../P10102243.jpg and then clean the 2 holes. They'll be really dirty, so clean it until no more dirty fluid comes out. Then let it dry out for like 15- 20 mins in the sun or something. Good luck ! Let us know if it worked |
I did clean the throttle body, and now that I think about it I did clean the IAVC, there is a small screen on it correct,,, and I changed the hosing cause I had a small coolant leak. So Im stumped haha you dont think the 02 sensor would have anything to do with it, reason I ask is because when I put my header in the piping came loose from my cat and dropped and ripped the wiring, I did fix it and it seemed to drive fine after that,,, it been about 3 months since the 02 was repaid
thanks for the reply and so quik |
^Is the check engine light on?
It could very well be the o2 sensor. If the O2 wires are damaged and repaired, it can throw off the readings. |
no check engine light, almost wish it did go on then I could look up the code,,, the one ground wire ripped in half and the rest came loose from the clip, it took awhile to find where eash wire went but I found it the diagram and put everthing back. Once repaired it ran great till now, its been 3 month so I guess the heat could of messed up the one ground that was fixed, I`ll check it out tomorrow and let you know what I see

tps sensor? a weird idle like that usually means a sensor has gone stupid on you....
same thing happened on my old bag o crap sunfire back in the day |
i have the same problem check for a fuel leak by the gas tank i found one and it stopped when i fixed it otherwise jump the ecu and see if there are any codes being shown im pretty sure theres a diy guide for it on here somewhere
good luck and let me know what you find |
i had the same problem with my b20. i changed plugs and wires and it was fixed.

Thanks for all your help guys, I m glad to say the teg is back to normal, I started out with changing a few sensors, cleaned the throttle body, double checked all the wiring, and it was still happeneing. So I switched gas stations, and ever since I did that, it runs great, revs a bit high in the morning like most cars do, almost hits 2000 but only for 5 about seconds then sits at 800 like it should.
Once agian thanks for the help and tips, cant wait to show you guys the teg after it gos under the knife, think I`m starting this Oct, back to the ford explorer I go for the winter. thanks agian cheers |
So which gas station had the shitty gas?
|
Petro, I think the 91 is always a bit older, not sure if that has anything to do with it or not, my family gets regular gas from there all the time, and it seems to be fine. I just switched over to Shell
|
multiple petro locations or the same one?
|
same one everytime, on king goarge st
