help with electricle please!!!!!!

Hey guys i have had my (2) HE2 rockford fosgates powered off of a punch p8002 amp for about 6 months now, and just recently ive been having a few problems with start up and what not, and obviously my lights have been dimming, the power line to my amp is 0/1 AWG same with the ground wires

i have read many many posts and have come to these conclusions

1) i probably need a high output alternator 120-150 Amps (how much will this cost? is this something i can do myself??? if so anyone got a diagram or somewhere i can get the alternator from???)

2) I need to upgrade my alternator wires as well as my grounds for my engine ( where can i find 0/1 guage wire to upgrade these wires with???anyone got a step by step guide on all the wires or is it pretty much straight forward on how to do it (havent really looked to be 100% honest))

3) i probably need a new batery, something like exide xtreme or optima yellow top (any suggestions)

is there anything else im missing? if so please let me know, im driving a 95 integra rs, i think stock alternator is like 60 or 80 amps ....... anyways if anyone could help me i would really appreciate all the help.

its me.. mario Jun 22, 2005 07:47 AM

to push out alot of current on a high powered system, you need a good alternator

might also look into getting a good cap if you're clipping your subs.

yellow top would help alot too..

adding a cap when you are not getting enough current in the first place will only make it worse. Its just one more source that has to be powered. Bottom line is you need a bigger alternator to supply the extra juice, and a better battery that can provide the instantaneous spike in power.

how do i check if its my battery or my alternator which is messed up, today i went outside and i couldnt start my car, i dont know whether its my battery which cant hold a charg or if its my alternator which is not charging the battery.....

also where can i find a high output alternator in toronto, please help :D

Get a boost first from another car and start your car up. Then let it run for 5 min. After 5 min disconnect the battery with the car still running. Then let it run for another 10 min. If it dies then the alternator is bad. It it still runs then the alternator is good and the battery is bad.

check the yello pages, u'll find what u'r looking for, i havent got the chance to call any where yet, but i'm in the same boat as you, i'm going with a yello top and a high out put alt, and while i'm @ it i'm adding accel wires

if you get any prices post them up, i'll be sure to do the same

There's a really good altenator shop in Scarborough on Nugget just east of McCowan. 191 Nugget Avenue. Don't remember the name but he rebuilds and makes custom Alts!!!
