help: car wont get ignition!

okay heres the situation. did a swap on the weekend for a dude for his 92 integra. the car was not running and the head and everything was already ripped off the block. so we took that motor out and we put in another b18a. we have checked all the grounds and everything and it isnt getting spark. the car is getting fuel though. at first after the swap was completed it was chugging on like 2 cylinders. we checked the firing order and it was correct. then we started to pull each wire out 1 at a time so see which ones are keeping the car alive. we pulled cyl1, and it was still chugging. then we pulled cyl 2 and then the car died. after that happened the car wont restart again and now it has completely no spark. i had another dizzy laying around so we tried that, we tried other set of wires and also put in new plugs! and still no ignition.

this problem was exactly the same problem as my other buddies 93 integra that wont get spark either! we checked the ecu, main relay, and dizzy! am i missing something here? 2 cars with the same problem! someone enlighten me about the obd1 DAs out there with this problem. thanks boys.

the accord i was driving had the same problem, i changed the dizzy no spark, changed it back then it started but like at 500rpm then it shut off and wouldnt start again, checked the cylinders no sparks. i just gave up and bought a new car that motor is done.

how is the motor done when it has compression? and it was working, driving when pulled with no abnormal sounds or shakes? buddy, spark has no relation to the internals of a motor except for the the cam to dizzy. MOTOR IS NOT DONE AND KID KNOW WHAT THE F' YOUR TALKING ABOUT BEFORE POSTING.

hey man thats wierd... the exact same thing happened to my buddy's civic. And everything you said with the chugging and pulling plugs checking for spark we did the same. Now there's no spark whatsoever. So we checked for 12 volts going to the dizzy and there is 12volts present. So we're assuming to put a new dizzy in since the problem seems to start there. We haven't put it in yet but thats where we're starting.

Hard Start

Since you have determine there is no spark. Start with checking for a bad ignition coil, possible ignitor, or faulty cap and igniton rotor. It is important that the distributor is correctly installed. The igntion rotor should be pointing towards no. 1 cylinder when the crankshaft pulley is at 0 degrees. Check that are wires are plugged in, and the battery is in good shape as well.

Hope this helps.

I agree with Sanj, pull the coil and get a multimeter test the resistance between the terminal and then test the resistance between the terminals and the coil spring, don't know what the specs are off the top of my head but i had that problem a couple of weeks ago and tested the coil and it was out of specs, replaced it and it fired right up. If the coil tests out ok check the wiring going to the coil, test the ICM.
