burning oil

what is the regular maintenence interval for the headgasket replacement? ...on the b18b motor? the problem i have is that my oil is disappearing. 1. there's no blue smoke 2. i know it's there, i fill it in myself or as of late, honda as done it and it's on the dipstick 3. it's not leaking, there's no indications of drips or puddling thanks!

If its not leaking, its burning. Headgasket wont fix that.

do compression and leakdown tests on the motor and take a close look at the spark plugs........if there is oil burning going on it should show up on the plugs.

even though YOU cant see any smoke there probably is some....it really hard to see smoke while your driving unless its really blowing out alot from the tail pipe.

Classic sypmtom for a headgasket is white sweet smelling smoke out the exhaust. Usually means coolant is getting into the engine. The other sign is when you drain your oil, check to see if there's any coolant there. Also, drain your coolant and see if there's any oil there. Make sure the container your drain into is clean.

+1 on the thicker oil. Try a 10W40 and see if that helps. If not Mobil makes a 15W50. I've also has some success with those high mileage oils.

Though, I'd stay away from lucas or any other type of additive until after a replacement motor is found. You might as well drop in a B20Z or B20B eventually. Keep your LS IM and TB.

yeah, i wanted to minimize the downtime right now and keep by b18... by end of year maybe a b20 is what i'm considering. it's cheap...
