GSR, B16, H22 how do i tell the difference?

ok guys well in the world of fast cars and s*** talkers id like to know a few things. how do i tell the difference between say a GSR and B16 motor? what about an H22. basically when i check out somebodies ride id like to know the potential of that motor. any help would be appreciated.

h22 valve cover is different than a B series. GSR has a different shaped intake manifold than a b16 or a type-r. block code may not tell the whole story tho. could have a different head
