My buddy has a 2001 1.7 EL and the cable that opens the gas tank has broke on him and I'm just wondering if anyone has ever changed one of these before? If so, how hard is it to do? Looks pretty straight forward ... almost like a brake cable for a mountain bike.

Labour alone will cost more then the part so that's why we're trying to do it ourselves instead.
