hey guys...

my deck just shut off again and this is twice in the past week..I took it to Audio Heaven and he fixed the issue (fuse)...but which one is it and whydoes it keep blowing?

just had a Kenwood indash installed recently..

the indash is probably sucking up more power than a regular head unit. put a bigger fuse in it. what else you do have running off that circut?

 

The fuse panel is on the lower left hand side of the drivers area open that sucker up... look on the lil' chart on the back of the cover.... pull the fuse marked "radio" it may be listed with some other ----... If it is blown then I would assume you have a short... and not that it is sucking too much power, the reason I say this is because I had a head unit and 2 tv screens running off that power feed with no problems. You could do as mentioned above... and replace with a large fuse... but go in baby steps only like 5amps higher, nothing extreme..... because who really likes an electrical fire?? Not me!

I would remove the head unit and have a look behind for pinched or exposed/ unprotected wires that may be touching a ground (metal)

if you are running your front and rear speakers off deck power and have all the eq setting/ bass and treble settings maxed out, the internal deck in the amp could be sucking more current than the factory wires behind the dash can handle if you are running it through the factory radio harness. if this is the case, run the constant (yellow wire) to the fuseblock under the dash or to the battery and do a new ground.

otherwise, like others said, wires could be pinched.

 

had the install done at Audio Heaven so I will go back there and check it out..

Double check your grounds too...they can do some funny *** things.

As for putting a bigger fuse in? IF you are going to do this check the owners manual for the deck and find out what the max power draw is. IF your deck draws more than the fuse is rated for then upgrade it to a appropriate size fuse. If the fuse you have in there is sufficient then don't upgrade to a larger fuse. You have another problem and as said above the last thing you want is an electrical fire.

 

guys it has nothin gto do with the grounds, wires or any ---- like that...took it to Best Buy and got the bad news...the brain is dead...so now I need to get a new brain..
